The first problem was that it was hard to find someone to help me, even though there were hardly any other customers. I had to go back inside and the only person who could help me was the lady running the cash register. She was distracted because she had to get back to the cash register, so she turned me over to someone else. The person she switched me over to didn't know about plants.
I left there feeling very frustrated and feeling like I wished I hadn't gone. The plants I ended up with I'm not all that happy with. I was disappointed in them, this isn't the first time this has happened.

"Thank you for your review. Sorry you experience was less than perfect. We will do our best to improve customer service in the future. We cannot make excuses , it is probably true, as this review comes a month after our busiest month and the date at mentioned is a Saturday and is our busiest day of the week. Our employees do their BEST to assist all customers especially when the other staff are busy assisting other customers. This is most likely why the cashier was "distracted." We try to find quality employees but not all are as knowledgeable about everything we have to offer but we do are best to educate them in the most efficient way possible. Gaining the knowledge to answer all yours questions takes years of experience and thus some of them must rely on the other employees to answer your questions. I know that they will feel insulted when we share this with them. I know for fact that they ALL take pride in serving you. Not sure why you are unhappy with the plant you left, ultimately you are the final decision maker and we can only guess as to what you are looking for or needing. We would rather you leave empty handed than sell you something you don't want or need. If there is a legitimate complaint as to wrong doing or employees misconduct we ask that take it up with with management in person. Thanks again for your review and please come again."

contacted for estimates after home and garden took awhile to respone to request had to contact outside of angie list via phone for info, pricey did not use

We do not give free estimates because we offer a service that is top notch and in great demand. Our design team taylors each design to fit your needs based ob our interpretation of the initial consultation. If you sign a contract with us the fees are credited towards the job as stated on our listing and website. We know not everyone can afford to do it all so we try to offer options or phase work when possible. We know that we cannot please everyone but we do try out best and that is why honest reviews like this one are so important to us. If there is anything we can differently please let us know. Trimmed the shape of the tree acceptably, but did not thin the tree branches as we requested.

Their plan really fit Kansas summers because the plants are designed to withstand the heat and water temperature, so it was a very good solid landscaping plan.

Hong's is a very professional company. They do good work. They are expensive, but you get exactly what you pay for.

I was impressed with the quality of their supplies and their knowledgeable staff. Hong is a class act. They carry upscale and specialty lawn and landscaping products, not typically found at the big box stores. If you need more specialty items, you may want to check here first.

I thought it was exceptional. I think the work was done in a timely manner. The workmen were clearly very professional. I basically had some ideas and we discussed the layout and the design. They followed through to the leather as to my suggestions and requirements and I appreciated that. The overall impression was satisfactory and better than basically I had anticipated. In terms of enhancing the appearance of that area and also for my property, I think it was quite satisfactory. The price was comparable and I think they probably gave me a break on the tree because they did tell me that they had some specials. They gave me good value for my money. This is just the first year. I see we have buds and I see the roses are leafing. It looks like it's moving right along. At this point and time, roses in this area don't do as well as in other places where we don't have the heavy frost. It survived a pretty cold winter so that to me was impressive. In terms of timing and scheduling, it was right on. In terms of the dates that I had identified would be advantageous to me, they met them and in terms of the time to get the job done. They were right on track with the estimates. It was very professional. The job was done efficiently. There was good clean-up. Some stone borders that had been still there that I didn't even know they still existed, they stacked them very professionally in the backyard as I suggested. I felt there was a possibility of using those stones at another time and another place. That was something that was not initially part of the original contract, but they did that. There were quite a few stones and there was no additional charge. I thought that was also very professional and good business sense. That was definitely time, and those stones were clearly not just a couple of pounds. It was time and labor that had not been initially discussed or anticipated and they picked them up at no additional charge. I would definitely recommend them.

My next door neighbor had used them for yard renovation (verticut, aerate, seed, fertilize, etc.) and I saw them working and asked if they could estimate doing the same service for my yard. On their first visit the same day, they verticut my yard and actually finished mowing it for no extra charge. I had them back for this visit (reviewed here) after I put down weed control. As long as I bought seed, soil activator and new lawn starter from them, they aerated my yard for a reasonable fee and put down all the product at no extra charge. I was working pretty late in the season and they warned me that results may not show up until next spring, but the yard is looking good. My neighbors yard has filled in nicely after being ahead of me by three weeks from seeding. They were long term employees, friendly, very fast and one of the owners (Dale) visited both times they were at my house. I will definitely use them again in the future.
