"Hi [member name removed], Thank you so much for the kind words. I will pass that along to our masonry technicians! It was a pleasure working for you! Bart Ogden, President Home Safe Hearth & Chimney, Inc. Wichita's Fireplace Experts Since 1979!"
"Hi [member name removed], I'm sorry we were unable to do that repair work for you when we did the service work for you. For that particular repair, it takes a different technician and a different setup on the truck. We've made contact with you to explain this and you had already chosen to have another company do the actual work, which we have no issues with. We appreciate the opportunity to do your service work and hope we can serve you in the future! Have a great day - it was a pleasure working for you! Bart Ogden, President Home Safe Hearth & Chimney, Inc. Wichita's Fireplace Experts Since 1979!"

"Thanks, [member name removed]! We appreciate your patience and understanding while we worked through a solution with your very unique installation and the way your home sat up on the hill and had issues with wind-loading on the north sidewall termination. Now that we've relocated your vent termination to the roof, we're confident you should be set for winter! Sincerely, A. Bart Ogden, President Home Safe Hearth & Chimney, Inc. Since I wrote my review, Home Safe Hearth and Chimney has contacted us about the damper closing problem we had experienced and came out to check on it. They corrected what was a slight problem free of charge and gave us some advice on how to prevent it happening in the future. We were very pleased with their immediate response to our review, even before we had had a chance to contact them. I can now unreservedly give them 100% A.
cleanly. This year's serviceman called ahead to say he'd be a bit late
and arrived within a half hour. He cleaned the chimney and then the
dryer hose which he found unhooked in the crawl space. He fixed the
problem, cleaned the hose and placed the dryer back into position. We
are completely satisfied.
"Thank you so much for your kind words - we'll pass this along to Bruce, your CSIA and NFI Certified Service Technician! It was a pleasure working with you. We're glad that we found the disconnected dryer vent and were able to repair that for you before it cause too many problems. "Thank you for the kind words, Customer! Bruce really enjoyed doing your service, We're glad we were able to take care of all your fireplace issues with a single call and we look forward to doing your annual fireplace service for many years to come!"
"Thank you for your kind words, Member. It's been OUR pleasure to be your "Sweep for Life" for many, many years. We look forward to serving your family's hearth and dryer vent needs long into the future!"
1/21/2011: Their service representative came to our home. He inspected both chimneys, but he cleaned only one. He didn't have the correct equipment to clean our downstairs chimney. He said someone would call to reschedule him with the right truck (equipment).
5/13/2011: When we had no contact from the business for four months, we went back to the business to determine why there had been no follow-up. The lady with whom we visited (wife of the owner) was curt with us.
5/16/2011: We had a call from Bart Ogden to let us know the missing paperwork from the visit on 1/21, by their representative, had been found. An appointment for the second inspection and cleaning was set for 5/19.
5/19/2011: The same representative came to our home to complete the work and inspection from 1/21/2011. He told us we would receive a report and proposal from the owner detailing our options regarding the fireplaces.
6/17/2011: Having heard nothing for one month, we called Home Safe Hearth and Chimney to find out why there had been another delay.
6/25/2011: Proposal received.
When we read the proposal, and the options presented, which came to a total cost of $ 5,454.67 + tax, we knew that other opinions and bids were needed.
"We apologize for the service Member received. We were experiencing some internal issues that prevented us from issuing a timely estimate on this job. We have adjusted our internal procedures to have better organization as well as a better attitude from our showroom personnel. We DO, however, stand by our report that the flue needs repair. We have photo documentation showing that there are defects in the chimney structure. We simply provided a price on the repair and clients are certainly free to get other opinions."
If they do not provide to me the paperwork in January, I am going to contact the BBB and file a complaint against them and ask for part of my money returned to me.
"Our intake notes specifically indicated that Member was in NO hurry on this pricing. She SPECIFICALLY stated that she was in no hurry as she would be living in the house for a while and was planning on having the repairs completed sometime in the future. There was absolutely NO mention of this being needed ASAP or we would have issued pricing within a couple of days of the service. Our technician, Brian, spoke with Member and told her that he would have to search to find the out-of-date damper chain and that he was going to be doing this on his own time and at no charge to her. In other words, we were doing this for FREE! Brian attempted to contact Member at least 6 times according to our outgoing call logs, but was unable to reach her. He was attempting to update her as to his process, but she was unreachable. After we finally found the chain that would fit, we were told that Member did not want to speak with Brian (unsure why - this makes no sense) and that we were to provide her with the We HAVE issued the proposal for repairs as per her request. As per her request, we have MAILED her the chain at absolutely NO CHARGE to her and at expense to us. With our stellar rating on Angie's List and being a Super Service Award winner in 2011, it should be obvious that we don't provide service as she's describing. We've done all we can and have tried to do more - she has refused to even answer our calls and all attempts at satisfying her. We've been in business for over 32 years and have over 15,000 satisfied clients. Every once in a while we're reminded that you can't satisfy everyone 100% and on a rare occasion you can't satisfy someone at all - no matter what you do. Brian is a very good technician and very conscientious person who follows up on his word. This customer report is absolutely untrue and the complaint is unfounded. We feel that there is no way to satisfy this client."
"Thank you Member!"
"Thank You Member. We apologize for not being able to change the gas valve. City codes require only a licensed plumber work on issues like that. We appreciate your feedback!"
