The oil change was fine. However, our car only has 77,000 miles on it. We were told that we needed new struts and new tires to the tune of $2500.00. Eddys has serviced this car since the day it purchased. Every time we have had the car in and they have performed the safety inspection including this visit the suspension was marked as being fine which makes no sense to me. We bought the tires that are on our car from Eddys in December 2012. That makes the 1 1/2 years old and we have only gotten 25,000 miles approx out of them. These were supposed to be 60,000 mile tires. Eddys have been the one to rotate and balance them when needed. We did not have $2500.00 to put at so my husband brought my car home. After checking on the web Toyota has a know problem with the 2007 Camry Struts. I sent a email to the Service Manager at Eddys and after a week got no repsonse. I then called Eddys to speak to the Service Manager was told he was not answering phone. I spoke to the Service Advisor who took my message and was personally going to deliver it to the Service Manager. Again a week no response. I have since emailed both the Service Manager and Assistant Manager withi no repsonse after a week.
Since our car is out of warranty I would say that is why they do not respond. However, we checked have checked online on how to see and there is a known issue with 200 Toyota Camry Struts.
The week after the oil service change, the undercover fell down while on the highway and we had to get assistance to zip tie it up. I am not sure if they neglected to make sure the cover was secured or not, but it makes me concerned that they would have not payed attention to that detail.
I know exactly what is wrong with it, oil leak around oil pump seal, a
common leak for an old Toyota truck, but the service responder, by
phone, said I'd have to bring the truck in first to have an $89.95
diagnostics review done on the truck before any work could be done and
scheduled. I explained that I would have to have the truck hauled to
their location, 40 miles from our farm, just to have the diagnostic to
be done, then wait for an opening for a schedule to have the truck
fixed, not providing any type of standard estimate of what that type
service 'usually' costs and how it could vary, high or low. They
treated me like I knew nothing about the truck or mechanics. They
failed to understand that this was not one of those 'its making a funny
noise, can you see whats wrong with it' type calls.
We found a mechanic close to the west side of Wichita who took our word for what was wrong with the truck and scheduled a day-long repair, we hauled it to that shop, they fixed it, total $228.00.
That is a lot of money difference, so we have learned to check around carefully.
