We used a Groupon for this check up & service.  The service was OK, but it seemed like the technician was trying to find something wrong with the furnace, and kept trying to up-sell us to additional services that we didn't necessarily need or want.

They were recommended by someone else. They seemed to be knowledgeable about the product and did a good job putting it in.

It’s a unit that dates from the 50s. It’s called Luxaire, and I don’t even know if they exist anymore. It required two shots of Freon, and they also found that the vents were clogged. They had never been cleaned, so the unit overheated, especially since it was 97 degrees outside. They came out at 7 o’clock at night, and they still had to attend to another call after that.  It took them about an hour or two to get here after I called. I can’t say enough good things about them. It was a pricey job, but that’s to be expected, considering what they had to do to get the unit fixed. The bill for the repair itself was about $260, but I paid $400. The additional amount was for a membership that includes a couple of cleanings a year and regular maintenance. It was all lumped together. They were very professional and prompt, considering how short a notice I gave them to get here. They did a really nice job. We actually called them back because we liked what they had done for us on a previous call. We have a home warranty, and we called them for a repair through they home warranty. They don’t deal with the home warranty though, because from their perspective, the warranty is more for repair versus replacement. These guys don’t beat around the bush. They tell me exactly what needs to be done and what it would cost, without any hidden fees. I like that. I have their information in my file now, so I will call them again. We’re thinking about having the air conditioning unit and the furnace both replaced at the same time.
