We hired Linda to paint our back hallway. While unorganized, she seemed eager for business and we like to support women entrepreneurs. Linda was anything but professional and provided poor quality work. When we returned to our home after a day of painting, the paint had dried with multiple runs in the paint (some had been applied so thickly that they made "icicles" of paint run down into our doorways), drips were all over our unprotected floors, our door knobs and hinges had be sloppily painted on, there were drips in our garage and on our kitchen linoleum (not even in the painting area). It was horrifying. We called Linda that night and asked her not to return for fear of ruining MORE of our home. She said she would only ask that we paid for the materials cost in paint: $90. We reluctantly agreed to pay for materials and met Linda the next day at our house to hear her plead her case. At our meeting, she did not instill faith in us that her remaining work would rectify the damage she'd already caused, so we asked her to discontinue service. She asked for $90 payment and we complied. A week later we received a letter from Linda requesting unsolicited payment for not only sub-par work, but actual damage to our home. We responded with a decline, after which we received a letter to notify us that we were being sued in small claims court for a sum of money we hadn't even been requested to pay.
