I highly recommend Terry for all your small engine repairs. I took a snowblower to him Monday at 10:00 AM and he had it fixed and running before noon the same day. Picked it up and I'm ready for the next snowfall. He's a very nice guy, gave me some good advice on what to do to keep it from having issues in the future, and was very reasonably priced. Give him a try. You won't regret it!.

I called Terry to see if he could get my snow blower running. It ran last year but wouldn't start this year. Because I have a pickup with ramps I was able to take the machine to him the same day--last Wednesday. He told me then that it was likely less expensive and more effective to replace the carburetor than to try to locate and replace a carburetor kit. He told me it would be the following week (today) before he could get to the repair. Today he called to tell me that the work was done and that the machine is running fine. The repairs were what he had indicated and the price what I had expected. He gave me some good advice on what gas to use (and not use--i.e., ethanol blend) and some gas treatments to use in the future. He was professional and courteous and very helpful. I'll use him again and will recommend him to others. His is a small behind-the-house-shop, and it looks like he's got a thriving business.

I mowed a couple of times after they brought it back and I smelled something hot but just figured they dropped some oil on it or something and that the smell would go away. As I was mowing the third time, a pulley belt shredded and was thrown off, creating a terrific noise. I turned off the mower. I had not realized the problem until the owner came and picked it up again.
After the second time in the shop, the owner returned it to me with another $65.00 bill. He told me that the belt guide was bent up against a pulley and would not let the pulley turn, I guess they didn't notice the bar bent when they serviced it and installed new spindle and blades??? and that I had mowed many times before they serviced it and didn't have any problem. They bent it back in place and installed a new belt. I couldn't believe that I was charged again as I am the only one to mow, and I ALWAYS pick up sticks etc. before mowing. He suggested that customers lie to him when they run over things and he never knows what they have hit. He said he would tear up my check if that made me feel better. That wasn't my problem as much as them taking responsibility for the "repair" when it only needed an oil change and insinuating that I would lie regarding what happened. I told him I was paying him, I had no reason to lie to him, but he should check out his employees and he stated he had the best employees around. So I guess, if I want to deal with this situation again, I'll go back to them........not!
He even said that I wouldn't be coming back to him and ,of course, he didn't tear up the check. I was very disappointed in them, hoping I would find a mechanic that I would trust. They left me with room to doubt them.

Response from Terry's Small Engine Repair
"I have looked through my old work orders on a [member name removed] and found I did not work on this unit . There is another shop in this area with the same name and I do not normally pick up units in Silver Lake . I am sorry she got bad service and welcome her to give me a call to clear this up ."

I had a self-propelled mower that had been stored for 3 years. Terry was prompt in answering the call, he offered to pick up and return the mower from my house, but I chose to deliver the mower myself.
Work performed: R&R spark plug, sharpened blades, changed the oil, cleaned the carburetor and tank, installed diaphragm and prime bulb, clean air filter. Terry demonstrated starting mower which powered immediately. Work completed on time.

Terry is a fine small engine mechanic. He knows his business. For info, in March I asked Terry to tune up my riding mower and some gas trimmers. But he said he was backed up and would not be able to return them to me for a few weeks, as he was so busy. He picked up the items. I was fine with what he said. Plus he called and said the carburetor needed to be replaced; the new part had to be ordered. So, It turned out that he delivered my riding mower and trimmers in early April. His work was excellent and his price was better than fair. I recommend him to others. Just for info, it might be wise to call him ahead of the start of the spring season. But I suppose that would be true for all good small engine repairers.

He came by picked up both my push mower and riding mower. He
replaced the needed belts, sharpened the blades, replaced the battery on the
riding mower, changed the oil and filters also the fuel filter on both and
returned it to me in about a week. Terry was honest and did what he said he
would do at the agreed price.

Terry was just GREAT! I contacted him from his website and he responded to my email then called me. We agreed on a time and he came by loaded my mowers on his trailer. He told me it would be about 2 weeks and had both mowers back to me in 10 days. The work was done to perfection both mowers repaired and looking good. I mowed the lawn last night until dark. It rained overnight and when it dries out I will trim it up. I am very pleased with the work that he did and I highly recommend him.
