I called Randy on Friday afternoon and asked if he could install a kitchen light fixture. He said he could do it the next day if he finished his current project installing a garage door. As it turned out, he stopped by late Sunday afternoon and returned Monday morning to do the install. Only took an hour with no problems and his charge for the service was a very reasonable $35 Randy has done work for me before and he always emphasizes work quality and affordable prices. I have no hesitation to recommend his handyman services to anyone. A+

Randy got right to work the minute he arrived. Apparently, someone who had previously worked on the light short-cut the job and either lost a nut or just didn't put it back together correctly so that when I unscrewed the lamp bulb to replace it, the whole fixture loosened up. Randy took it completely apart and put it back together with a spare nut he had in his truck. Someone else would have probably tried to sell me a new fixture. It was refreshing to finally find a handyman who is honest, reliable and reasonable. I will definitely be calling him again. Almost forgot. He did charge me an extra $25 for the trip from Topeka to my home in Lawrence. He advised that this cost would go up to $50 in the future.

I first made the appointment in the late months of last year. Because of Illnesses and blustery weather, he was not able to do the job in a timely manner (understandable). He made it out to fix the gutter on a decent day in February. He Told me he would return within a couple of weeks to blow out the gutters and remove the ties that were originally keeping the gutters from hitting the ground. He never came back to finish the job. He's seemed to be friendly and approachable. But he didn't finish the job.

Randy was excellent and was not satisfied until he was satisfied (as well as me). For help with gutters, Randy was excellent.

poorly. Provider was very rude and offensive. He even yelled at me at one point. Can't believe the positive reviews were about this same person. I relied on positive reviews to hire this person and can't believe how different my experience was. Downright scary.

Randy came in looked at it, pulled it our assessed the supplies needed to fix it, left and brought a part back and fixed the drawer! He was finished in about 30 minutes from the time he arrived. Very professional and responded quickly to our call.

He is fabulous! That?s what he did the day before yesterday, but he has done other things too. He is very creative about how to fix the project. I had no idea how anybody was going to get the door open, because the knob wouldn?t turn, and he didn?t have any trouble fixing it. He fixed it so it looks nice, he thinks about those things.

Actually, he is going to be putting in 2 storm doors for us in the future. We already had it on the works. It will be several weeks before we get the storms, we ordered them. He is actually picking up the storm doors, I mean he is doing the whole thing.

Excellent! Randy was courteous and professional and did a fantastic job. The new door feels like it fits better than the previous door, and the door hang was for the previous door!!

Randy the Handyman responded to my call for help with a clogged sewer line at my home. He was then at another work project elsewhere. He said he would leave for my house when finished at the site where he was. While on the way, he called to notify me of his being in transit. He arrived in the afternoon. He looked at the drain and tried to unplug it with a plunger. After several attempts, it was clear that a plunger would not free up the clogged pipe.
He recommended as a next step to call the city water department for a water main check, which calls he agreed to do. After a bit of time, he was directed to the appropriate section.  The water staff was very agreeable to coming by my house to check my block's main sewer that afternoon. The city staff arrived in about a half hour at my block. Randy communicated with them. The main was checked and proved free of blockage.
Randy then called a plumber office and told them of the issues and what had been done to that point. It was obvious that a cleaning, or roto rooting, of my house's sewer pipe was in order. The plumber office asked if I wanted a tech to come tomorrow, at regular hourly rates. Or to make an emergency call late the same afternoon as this call (i.e., today), but at overtime rates. I agreed to the overtime arrangement for today. (Note: the plumber was able to clear the sewer line later the same day.)
As part of Randy's thoroughness, he suggested that I make another appointment with the plumber for a few days later. He recommended that the techs run a "cam." That refers to a thin camera line being extended into the sewer pipe. Then the plumber could see if house settling, or tree roots, or something else had caused the line to be partially blocked. And if a problem was found, I should consider getting it fixed. (For info, I had not had a blocked sewer line for 20 years. Also for info, the house at present is nearly 40 years old.) I agreed to call the plumber in a few days.
At that point, Randy had spent two and a half hours: either interacting with the city staff or locating a plumber. At that point, and with the plumber on the way, I asked if there was anything more that he should do. He said no. Then I asked him about his bill. He told me he had not actually done the work. So he left the bill up to me. I asked him his regular rate. I decided to pay him for the full time he was there. I thanked him for his advice and support. Then he left.
Randy the Handyman is a good man. And he is very knowledgeable of handyman skills in most of the home fixup areas. I would highly recommend him to clients of Angies List

He was very responsive and prompt, he charged a $25 fee to drive from Topeka to Lawrence which I think is reasonable. It was a simple task but was completed quickly and efficiently.

Randy was prompt and polite.  He gave me an estimate and kept to it.
My only "moments" of concern were when he said he would call me on a Monday.  I waited and ended up calling him on a Wednesday.  He apologized.
When he told me he could not find the necessary parts and would have to make them, I studied my stupid drawers...one of the necessary little parts fell off.  I took it to the nearby hardware store when I bought the last 5 of these little plastic gadgets.  I fixed my drawers myself.
I am left with the notion that Randy needs to go to ACE hardware to get stuff.

He was responsive, timely and reasonably priced. I had a specific sump pump I wanted to use for the replacement. Randy took the time to go look at it and make sure it was acceptable to use. He did this without charging me. I would recommend him for handy man services around the house.

Randy was nice, and I hate to rate his services low, but I am. We called him because of the reviews on here to have him find what was leaking from our kitchen to our basement. He eventually found that it was the dishwasher which I think is the obituary first place to look. However, it was the third or forth that he looked at. Before he found that it was the dishwasher he cut a huge hole in our ceiling in the basement to try to locate the issue. So that was fairly concerning to us, but we had him go ahead and finish replacing the dishwasher then putting two new faucets in. He just didn't seem sure about what he was doing (reference the hole in our ceiling). Even with the faucets, he took a long time to finish them with his partner. One of the other big negatives was that he NEVER called before he came over. He disrupted us twice because we had no idea that he was coming over. Even without it being a business matter, it seems like common curious to let someone know if you're coming over. He tried to deliver the bill a week after he was done twice. The first time we were gone (we have a video feed on our phones from the doorbell so we saw it was him), but the second time was at 7:00pm and again disrupted us. Then, he didn't even have the bill ready. We had to go out to his van to have him complete it since I wasn't having him come in since we weren't ready for him. Again, seems like this should have been ready for us already. After this, he had someone come over to give us an estimate on fixing the large hole in our ceiling that he gave us. The estimate came to $1800! Plus his $540 bill...wow. We didn't go with that estimate, but I still wonder how much we could have SAVED if we didn't go with Randy. Maybe he's just not great with pluming issues? I don't know, but he was not the right guy for the jobs we had. Maybe he'll be right for you, but I'm sorry that I can't recommend him. Again, he was super nice, but since Angie's list is here for honest reviews, I felt like that's what I needed to leave.
