I'd highly recommend Faith Roofing Company. I would mark them down a little bit with the clean-up, I found two shingle nails which is unfortunate but I think that happens. I had a $350 Angie's List coupon that was helpful with the pricing. The estimator was very good. He suggested that I get a different color which I liked and also made a suggestion of this little windows on my ceiling to let light in. They suggest on putting up another one to even up the numbers and I thought that was a good idea. I had an issue with the insurer who had my home insurance, they did not want to give me credit for that $350 coupon, so I called them and asked them, the lady I talked to prepared a one-page statement that I would go with my letter to the state insurance department to contest the insurance company's decision. As it turned out, the company agreed to pay me the money that I should have saved due to the coupon. It was hard for them to set appointment but they worked it in and I was very satisfied with that.

I called Faith Roofing after the storm that damaged the roofs on our homes due to hail and wind.  I called them because they had done repairs previously and we were satisfied with their service.  Their project manager at that time was great to work with.
However, when I called this time and asked for the same person, he was in another position, so a different rep. came to our home a  few days later to look at the damage. This rep. did not provide timely follow-up on revised estimates, selection of roofing materials and answers to issues that we needed to resolve regarding their estimates and the insurance company's estimate.  This lack of follow up was causing delays in getting our repairs done.
I called and asked for another representative and he came out to look at damage, but the follow up and follow through was still very frustrating.  I couldn't fine out the status of our order for the shingles or when repairs would be done.  I finally contacted the owner/manager by email and explained to him the situation and lack of good customer service, but he never responded to me. However, the rep did contact me to let me know he had contracts for us to sign and could then give me an approximate date for the repairs.  This was five (5) months after our initial call to Faith Roofing to get our homes repaired.  We were fortunate that we did not have significant rainfall or storms during that time to cause additional damage. It took another month for the repairs to get done.
The quality of the materials and workmanship appear to be good, but it took six months to get our homes repaired.  We tried to be patient because there were many homes in the area with roof damage from that storm.  I even called some other roofing companies during this time to see if we could get someone else to do the repairs and several told me that they were not taking on any new customers so they could take care of current customers.  Meanwhile, I was seeing Faith Roofing TV commercials about their great service to try to get more customers when it appeared to me that they couldn't take care of the ones they had!

Response from Heartland Home Exteriors
"I apologize greatly for the lack of timely job start and completion. Being in a storm market there is a lot of pull on finite resources. We wanted to pull our television commercial in that year, but have contracts with the stations not to do this. I hope that you have enjoyed your new roof the last few years and I apologize for your inconvenience. I will say that through the learning experience of 2011, we are currently working with storm damage and are successfully completing projects within 3 weeks of initial contact. Thank you for your feedback. Sincerely, Brent Boman President Faith Roofing Company"

They used what appeared to be the home team on our neighbors house .  That was done a few weeks later and was about $10,000 more for the job.  They just got caught taking more work than they could handle. I believe that our workers were hired from Texas and Oklahoma.  They were good workers but were poorly supervised by the people that I hired to do the job !!!!!!!

I asked for the technician to come give me an estimate to fix a leak around a dormer.  My son met him and he told us that he had to charge for the estimate, which I thought was not great service.  So he looked at the roof and instead of giving us an estimate to tear off and repair the leak (probably an issue with missing flashing) he returned and applied clear goop around the lower perimeter of the dormer and charged me further.  This did not fix the leak; this is not what I wanted.  The office was called at least three times and no one ever responded.

At first this was a nightmare, when they completed the roof I noticed it did not have the ridge vent I ordered and the color of the drip edge was wrong. Later I went up and inspected the roof and found cracked shingles, exposed nails going through shingles. After about six months of phone calls too them, about three visits from them to do repairs its fixed the way it should be and looks good now.

They did it in one day. The roof vents have been great for heating and cooling. I paid the deducible and $168 for the roof vents and the insurance took care of the rest of it. It went excellent and they did an excellent job. I did see a few nails on the ground, but that is to be expected. I called them the day after the hail storm and the guy came out and met with me. They started the job the next day. It was all taken care of in 3 days.

They did a very nice job.  They stressed the quality of their roof. They are quality oriented that the roof that they give you will of high quality and they gave me good deal on the price for the roof and gutters. There is one other guy that supposed to come out and put a tarp on my roof but didn't make it so I have to put it by myself but overall they are excellent.

The estimate was about the same as other roofers, and he was recommended by our insurance company.  However, between the time we contracted with them and when we signed the contract, our insurance company dis-affiliated themselves with the Faith Roofing company.  We could not get a straight answer why, so we continued.

When they arrived, there was no real manager of the job.  It was just a bunch of temporary day laborers who were unskilled at the job that did the actual work.  They had no pride in the work nor were they monitored.  The "supervisor" walked around on the ground and didn't ever actually go up onto the roof.

When the job was completed, we had numerous leaks.  When we called to complain, they sent out their "fix-it" guys who fixed numerous mistakes.  It took either 3 or 4 trips out to our home for them to finally get the skylights to stop leaking.  I have no idea if our drywall on the ceiling is messed up or not.

No one seems to be the least bit interested in the quality of work or customer satisfaction.

DO NOT hire this company.

** Update **  Early June 2012

After yet another rain, we awoke to find a horrible leakage mess from a sky light.  The drywall is ruined and will need to be replaced.  The SPLATTER from the ceiling texture and water had a 6 foot radius in my foyer and is all over my antique bookcase and hardwood flooring and rug.

We have also found a leak from the fireplace chimney in the basement.  This is a nightmare!!!  Nearly a year of trying to get this matter resolved, and we are still fighting with these people.  And they had the audacity to call me to request that I change my review of them.

**Update**  June 21, 2012

After an extended discussion, Faith Roofing FINALLY installed the flashings that they neglected to install for the 3 skylights.  It would appear that this has solved the skylight leakage problem.  They also replaced the flashing around the chimney that, too, was leaking.  Unfortunately, other flashings are leaking now, and we have more damage.  We have enlisted the assistance of our insurance company in hopes of having all of the rest of the leaking flashings replaced.  Faith is also offering only to paint ONE wall of our home instead of doing the right thing.

They were prompt and did the work quickly.  However, when they removed the old shingles they braced themselves on the gutter and thus is drew the gutters away from the house structure.  I requested that they stop.  I called the project manager and he said he would take care of it, he didn't. When the project was over they brought a gutter repair technician and made proper repairs.  When they drove on site they put large ruts across my yard and tore up the grass. All they said was "sorry, senor." But they had a tined fork and I was able to make repairs.

The office staff was professional and provided a great deal of information on the shingle types, costs and colors.  They were most helpful and I was pleased with their service.  If there were damages to the roof other than the shingles needing to be replaced because of leaks in the home, we didn't know because the work was done so quickly (stripping the old shingles and putting on the new) that we weren't sure that the workmen were looking for damages.

They never finished the work, nor returned my phone calls.  On the upside, they never billed me for the few shingles they did replace.  They kept promising me they were sending someone out that never came.

"Faith Roofing would like to take time to apologize for the unfinished job you mentioned above. As I attempted to pull your file I found that you were not filed as one of our customers which could be the reasoning behind why we never came back out, as well as why you did not receive a bill for the small repairs we had done. I am terribly sorry about this. Our customers are very important to us,as well as their satisfaction. If there is anything we can do for you today to help mend this issue, please contact us at 1-855-234-9766."

They brought in their crew to replace original shake roof on 101 year old house.  When arrived they put a foot long gouge into my cautaulpa tree.  I didn't get upset because I wanted the rest of the experience to be positive.  The workers themselves were fine and did an ok job except they poked holes into the ceiling of my bedroom from above and left a dirty cloth dangling in the wind from the chimney when they were done.  The workers were friendly and hardworking but we had a hard time communicating because of their English.  Before I signed on with this company I had mentioned to the agent (a builder in Topeka also an agent of Faith Roofing) that it was important that we not have the roofing done during rainy weather since my husband and I had been having to deal with a downpour of approximately 400 gallons of water falling onto the north side of the house causing bowing in on the north wall every time it rained.  At the end of the first day I called to tell the agent that rain was in the forecast the next evening and I was concerned about the flooding problem.  During the first day and a half, they completed the roof.  On the second day, at noon, they removed the old gutters but did not put up the new gutters so that the house sat through a horrendous rainstorm putting at least 800 gallons of water on the north side of the house with no gutters to catch and transport the rain!  Finally, when the gutters were put on, they didn't complete them.  I mentioned this to the agent and he said he would complete them himself but never did.  I finally went to Home Depot and purchased the parts and completed the gutters myself!  The most horrendous thing they did was leave approximately 3 feet of the old broken apart shake roof debree in the attic!  I still owe them $100 (minus my purchases from Home Depot) but refuse to pay it until they clear the old roof out of my attic.  I decided not to pay them the 7600 until all was done however, they hounded me for the 7600 dollars showing up at odd hours, pulling up to my house out of the blue and waiting at my house until I got home.  I paid them the 7600 out of fear.  I called the state about the agent that was involved and they said that he had a legal "commercial" building license but wasn't requried by law in Topeka to carry a license to build "residential" property.   I was promised a warranty and have never received it after 2 requests (in person and by phone).  It has taken my a year and 4 months to get the courage to expose what happened to me by this company.

Mr. Bowman being the project managed didn't show up on the job site on the beginning day, but showed up the following day.  When the roof was being put on, I was suppose to get an Ice shield installed, when I didn't see it being put on I called Mr. Bowman and he said he would make them tear off the new roof, and have them install the ice shield, but I told him no they would,t, that i wouldn't have them put it on.  The roof needed some new sheeting installed, of which I paid for when I paid for the roof.  Faith Roofing sent my insurance an ammended report for the additional costs.  The insurance Co contacted me on Nov. 9, 2011 and asked me about the amended charges and told me they need photos of the roof where it needed sheetings, and I contacted Faith Roofing and told them that the insurance Co need photos.  Today is Dec 8, 2011 and after two phone calls so that this can be re a week to The insurance Co and to Faith Roofing, Mr Sonny Bowman has not sent the photos so that this can be resolved.  If you decide to Use Faith roofing I would request that you do not use the owners father Mr. Sonny Bowman, as your project manager or Faith Roofing companies representative.  He is Too busy to return phone calls, too busy to show up on the Job site, Too busy to make sure his roofers know what is to be done, and Too busy to send photos to the insurance Company.  I don't know why his son gives him a pay check.

"There was an unfortunate delay in the production of this customer's roof. Faith Roofing worked diligently to hire additional crews that were qualified to complete our projects to the high standard we require. We are working with the homeowner's insurance company to resolve the additional material & labor costs incurred. Mr. Boman has been in contact with the homeowner to discuss the status of the claim."

It went well. They did what they said they were going to do. The job helped me sell the home. Our real estate agent said it looked very good. They were 1 of 2 companies that were responsive out of 12 attempts for estimates. Most of the companies did not even call back.

The Faith Roofing estimate was very competitive with three other established local roofers.  The indifferent attitude on getting my estimate earlier placed them at the bottom of my list.  Their great endorsement on Angies list which had me call them first was lowered because of the way they handled the estimate with no contact for over four weeks repeated contacts.

I have many friends who had Faith doing their work in the past and all had only glowing praise for Faith Roofing.  These personal endorsements, from people I respect is the only reason I move them to the top of my list.  I awarded the contract to Faith Roofing really on faith and not because of personal experience.

Now that the job has been completed I am glad that I acted on the recommendations of my friends.  There were some communication difficulties with the installation crew, but their work was great.  They completed the job in one day and the attention to detail was outstanding.  The roof looks great and the fact that they even painted the sewer and furnace vents to match the roof was a detail that was not expected. Their contractor for the guttering was here the following day.  I know many individuals whose roofer did not do the guttering and they are having to wait weeks for guttering after their roof is completed.  That is a nice touch and since the guttering was only 5 years old, I had a cost comparision that showed me Faith Roofing price was fair.

Upon receiving the bill, I had the ability to donate a portion of their profit to a charity of my choice.  That was an added touch that showed me they were interested in our community.  I doubt if there are many other roofing companies who do that with their business model.

AFTER A LESS THAN STELLAR START, I WILL SAY THE FINISH JOB WAS STELLAR.

FAITH ROOFING SHOULD DEFINITELY BE ON YOUR LIST OF GREAT ROOFERS.

First, let me say that the roof replacement and gutter replacement appear to be done correctly and look good.  I will also say that numerous roofs and some gutters have been replaced in my neighborhood by different companies and they too appear to be done correctly and look good.

My project manager established expectations with me regarding the timeline for the roof and the gutters and was unable to fulfill the expectation, specifically with the gutter.  I admit disappointment but my disappointment was significantly enhanced by his repeated failure to keep me informed and his consistent disregard for returning my phone calls.  Twice I called the company who contacted him about my need to hear from him.

The crew that did my roof left nails, a shingle bundle wrapper, roofing felt and shingles in my yard.  The aforementioned trash was conspicuously in plain sight and the nails were each in a blue plastic ring about the size of a gallon milk container lid, which made them easily visible.   A tool was also left on my roof.  My thinking was that cleanup could have been better.

The roofing crew drove into my neighbors yard and left ruts.  Accidents happen but they left without mentioning the issue to anyone.  My neighbor spoke with me about the matter because he said he had attempted to contact the company and his calls were not returned.  I called my project manager and left a message encouraging him to contact my neighbor.  The settlement with my neighbor became very convoluted, to include innuendos at one point that I should pay my neighbor and the company would reduce my overall bill.   The matter appeared to be handled in a unprofessional manner from start to finish.

I have no cleanup issues with the crew that did my gutter.

I think my last frustration with this company is that each time my phone calls were not returned or an expectation was not met I was enlightened as to how busy they were.

Response from Heartland Home Exteriors
"Faith Roofing Company would like to apologize for the fact you did not get contacted by our company in as timely of a manner as needed. There also should not have been any reason for the debris and remains which were left at the site of this roofing project. Again, I apologize. The job was well done.  The oversite manager (Rick) was wonderful to work with; he followed through with agreements.  The only drawback was that they were to be done in one day.  Due to not getting the shingles in time, and one man absent, it took them an extra half day to complete the job.  That is my only complaint.

Overall, I was very pleased with the experience.  I would hire them again.

I felt our experience went well overall.  My insurance company (Liberty Mutual) and representative was extremely helpful in preparing me for the contractor bidding process.  They also accepted to fully cover the roofing expense, that was around $1,000 more than the initial insurance estimate.

Do follow directions from your insurance company.  Do contact at least two or three contractors after checking them out on Angie's List, asking friends about companies, and observing who is doing roofing jobs around town (Faith were doing quite a few around our area).  I felt the size of the company (number of crews working in the area) says something about their success.  The lowest bid may not be the best.   Keep notes on all contacts and information that is given to you.  Be pleasant but firm during these contacts.  Be prepared for changes in plans - not uncommon on jobs affected by weather conditions.  If you can't communicate with the crew chief for any reason, contact the company and request help.

Faith Roofing provided a detailed assessment form I filled out and returned on completion of the job.  I would expect this from any reputable contractor.
