Thieves. First, I scheduled a move and they got the address wrong. Guy said not to worry about it. I pay the $103 deposit. A few days later I contact them to reschedule, and after a few days of no response I finally get it rescheduled with the correct address. I email to cancel. No response. I call later that day to find out I'm not even on the schedule. I cancel then, and the guy on the phone said my deposit will be refunded. I ask for an email verification, because their verbal correspondence had been unreliable. He said it would be in the cancellation email. It was not. Over a week of no response, and now they're telling me I can't have the deposit back even though I canceled a week prior.
Response from Mike Hammer Local Moving
"Hi [Member Name Removed], we are sorry we are not able to refund your non-refundable deposit used reserve your move date. You confirmed booking with us on November 19th and paid the deposit and signed the contract. Then 15 days later you rescheduled, and then ultimately cancelled within 5 days of your move to use a different company. We do not have any problems with rescheduling dates, but we have many customers that we had to turn away who wanted your date and the deposit is used to secure a spot on our schedule. The reason for the delay of response to rescheduling was because the rep you were emailing was out of town for Thanksgiving. Please call the office with any additional questions and a possible resolution."

We were able to schedule the move at the last minute. The crew was punctual, professional, and courteous. They moved quickly but carefully, making sure nothing was damaged. We highly recommend them!

We used them recently on a move to a new home. We had to switch dates a couple times and Jake was very helpful. On the day of the move ( one of hottest days of the year) Bobs crew showed up on time and they were very professional thru the entire day. We ended up being very tight on space and they dissembled several pieces of furniture to make it all fit. We had to put several items in my truck which they loaded and unloaded. They unpacked and reassembled all furniture and put every thing where we wanted it. They covered all places that could have been damaged and put runners on floor to keep from scratching. I know we went way over the amount of time they figured on estimate but price was still in line with what was quoted, which was very reasonable. We would use these hard working professionals again in a heartbeat and so should you !

A+ !! It was seriously wonderful. Moving is a super stressful time and Mike’s crew put us at ease. They were hard working, patient, fun to be around. We really enjoyed their spirit and work ethic. They have all the right gear to move large items properly. Our piano was a piece of cake for them! It started raining towards the end and they protected everything and put a protector floor runner down. No time was wasted. They were very efficient. The way they packed the truck was truly an art! I highly recommend Mike’s crew for your move!

The indefatigable young men were full of good humor the entire long day and were so respectful (always a "ma'm" and "sir"). We have lots of large, heavy, awkward antique furniture and they did a good job hauling it up and down stairs. They did leave two boxes and all the rakes and shovels at the old house, but we should have done a final check before they left to make sure the house was totally empty.

I called Mike on Wednesday, the 10th, and asked if he could do a move on that Thursday. for my son. I also stipulated it had to be after noon as he wasn't available in the morning. He made the arrangements and said the movers would meet him at the apartment at 12:30. They were right on time, moved the items out, made the second stop and picked up some more things, and then went to the house and dropped everything off. Movers were very accommodating and Mike was excellent to do business with. The movers put a small hole in the wall going upstairs with the couch (it was very large) and broke a small pane in a door window upstairs. The minute I emailed Mike about it, he replied and said he would meet us there. This was on Friday. He fixed the hole in the wall and said he would send a handyman out on Monday to replace the window pane. All in all, it was a very good experience and I would definitely use Mike again.

Mike and his boys were amazing! I had been stood up by Moving Pros the day before, with not so much as a phone call to let me know they were not coming. I called Mike and he went out of his way to provide flawless service,on extremely short notice, they even came and moved the items on a Sunday for me. His guys were incredibly professional, they called and confirmed the time and then showed up at that time. They moved everything very quickly and carefully, they even took items apart and provided some extra moving pads for the 5 day storage in my garage. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing moving services.

It was a last minute move, Mike went out of his way to accommodate us. and got it setup for the next day. The movers were prompt, professional and went above and beyond the scope of the move. Recommend highly, reasonable and professional.

I was extremely please with the care the personnel took with the furniture and with my home. It again was necessary to move some items from the lower level. These items among others belonged totheir GreatGrandmother. The gentlemen pointed out some loose wood and some parts that needed attention. I was grateful for their knowledge and comunication. Two cases that were moved had 6 glass shelves each. All theshelves were packed in mirrow boses and carefully sealed and left in upright position as stated on the boxes. They were carefully packed into the moving truck and secured.
The personnel was pleasant, listened and fullfilled my needs. I feel as if I could trust them with my whole house full of furniture. Assured it would arrive in excellent condition and the household it left would be in excellent condition also, without any marks or scratches on floors, walls or interiors.

Mike was very responsive and checked personally to make sure all went well. The movers were polite, quick and very careful. We needed furniture delivered to several locations, and they were very accommodating.

Hired Mike's team to move a truck load to storage. The moving staff was on time and work hard all day to move boxes and misc. to storage unit. Yes, I would hire them again.

We were looking around for someone to move heavy furniture around the home. We had called many companies but no luck. Mike agreed to help us. He asked to see what furniture needed to be moved, and brought the right equipment with him. We were impressed that he would take time to prepare ahead for a successful move. He and Doug arrived on time, They were gracious and courteous. They moved the furniture with great care. We highly recommend his services.

Mike's guys were prompt, courteous, professional and, most importantly, very careful with my furniture. Mike was also very accommodating of my schedule - I needed to reschedule at least 3 times. A little pricey but the total included included travel costs, insurance and actual labor. The men punched out for lunch and Mike provided a 5% discount for paying in cash. I have moved several times, mostly on the east coast. This is definitely one of my best moving experiences.

The day of the move and leading up to it was an excellent experience. Mike was very responsive, friendly and provided a fair, competitive quote. I have several antique and family furniture pieces that I had asked about protecting, and was assured that things would be moved with care.
On moving day, the team was prompt and went right to work. They were professional, friendly, accommodating and fun to work with. Mike checked in with me in person mid day to ensure everything was going well. At that point, things were going well.
Five months prior, I had purchased a new GE Slate refrigerator. The team struggled to get it out my patio door, choosing to move it through with the fridge's doors open, rather than taking the doors off. Needless to say, the door was scratched at the top. In addition, two of my antique furniture pieces were damaged. Other items broke in the move, but I packed myself, so will not hold Hammer Moving accountable for those issues.
Having moved long distances several times in the past, I understand that things happen and get broken. I contacted Mike for an assessment. He was able to get some of the marks off, but acknowledged the scratches would need to be professionally looked at. He offered $200 to close out the case, however because it was a brand new fridge I had spent $2700 on, and was I not sure what resources might be available to fix the problem, turned down the offer and entrusted Mike to provide adequate support..
Long story short, Mike did not initially follow up for a couple weeks. I contacted him by email, but it wasn't after the 2nd email that he responded positively he would have his vendor check it out. Well, about 4 emails and three phone calls later (he did answer them and seemed responsive), it's the end of September and no resolution or contact from Mike since our last converation; no vendor out to assess the scratches, even though Mike said he was requesting he come out. The last conversation I had with Mike, in mid August, indicated he would get someone to contact me (which was the typical response I was getting all summer). I asked for the vendor's contact information, but Mike said he would take care of it. Still nothing. I imagine Mike has forgotten at this point.
While the move day went well, I found that there was too much damage to my furniture. I even was willing to pass on one item...possibly two to get the fridge fixed, and and quot;fixedand quot; those items myself (actually I used magic markers and tape to and quot;repairand quot;). If you have furniture of value, I would recommend looking elsewhere. The price was great, but you definitely get what you pay for.

I called Mike for an estimate and within two days he walked through the house and presented me with an approximation of time needed as well as cost for the move.
His crew showed up on time on both days of the move. These gentlemen were ready to work, and as I said, they worked hard and almost non-stop.
They were not only nice, but very patient with me because I had a few struggles with the placement of some of my larger antiques.
Work was great, Mike Hammer was honest, and the move couldn't have gone any better.

I needed bookshelves, boxes, and some random items moved into storage (at my sister's house), and Mike and his guys were great. I wasn't there for the move, but my sister sang their praises. They were punctual, efficient and careful with my belongings. Based on her reaction, if I ever have to move in KC again, I'd definitely hire them.

Very pleased. Movers showed up on time and worked very hard in less than ideal circumstances. Extremely hot outside but didn't slow them down much.
