This lawn company is responsive, easy to contact and follows through. The automatic withdrawal for lawn care is a plus. So far, excellent experience with Austin's.

The home we moved into had a sprinkler system that wasn't properly winterized by the previous owner. We reached out to Austin's Lawn Care after being referred by multiple neighbors. Mark and Angel came out, to inspect the system. They provided a estimate to repair the problems they could see (damaged backflow), and what might come up one they completed the initial repair and were able to turn the system on (line problems, sprinkler heads, etc). Mark even provided some suggestions on where to go with the sprinkler system in the future, but was never trying to 'up-sell' us. We moved forward with the repair project, and the time and expense were line with what we discussed... No surprises! We're beyond pleased with the service that we received from Austin's Lawn Care and will use them again for some upcoming projects we have for our yard and landscaping.

I do not recommend this company to others. I have used a different company for the past 7 years to handle my sprinkler winterization but due to a scheduling issue, I had to go with another company (Austin’s).  When the two guys from Austin’s came out, I could tell rather quickly that they may not have known exactly what they were doing.  They had difficulties hooking up their compressor to my back flow system (which controls where the water goes in and out of the sprinkler system).  When the time came this spring to use the sprinkler system again, I turned the water on encountered an issue.  Water was heavily flowing out of the back flow system, when it shouldn't have done this.  I called Austin's Lawn Care and Austin, the owner, said I just need to get a screw driver to tweak the valves.  I tried that, took photos of it, and sent it to Austin because the issue was not resolved.  I called Austin and he said over the phone that I probably needed a new back flow system.  I was surprised Austin didn't even come out to my home to investigate the issue.  Austin tried to sell me a new back flow system because he thought my system has worn out.  Austin also said that rebuilding the system would not be the best option because there would be no guarantees how long the rebuilt system would last.  I eventually called the other landscaping company I have used for 7 years for a second opinion.  This company came out to my home, investigated my sprinkler system, and advised that, in their opinion, Austin's incorrectly winterized my sprinkler system.  This was because four seals on my sprinkler system seemed to break all at once, which is usually a winterization issue.  In situations of worn out sprinkler systems, seals may break individually over time.   This second company said that due to the winterization damage, I now need a new sprinkler system.  I then called Austin and had this other company explain on a voicemail what they discovered.  Austin then continually ignored my multiple communications over multiple days.  This was until I left a voice mail saying that unless I heard from Austin very soon, I would contact Angie’s List, the BBB, and an attorney.  It only took Austin 5 minutes to reply to this message.  Austin said he would like to make things right with me by having two of his guys come out to rebuild my backflow system.  Keep in mind Austin had previously told me that rebuilding the system is not a good option.  I assume Austin recommended the rebuilding option because it would be the cheapest for him. Austin also confirmed he wanted to send out the same two guys who didn’t properly winterize my system in the first place. Austin also wanted to schedule me for a fall winterization and then a spring start up for the following year.  I was not pleased with this response since I want Austin to simply replace the system he broke.  Austin’s response to me was there’s nothing more he can do then.  I’ve been a teacher for the past 40 years and a $400+ fee for a new sprinkler system is a lot of money for me.  I feel I’m trying to be reasonable with Austin but it seems he’s not willing to make things right.  At the end of the day, I don’t want to spend my time trying to fix this issue or see anyone else have to go through this. I feel the only reason Austin called me back at all is because I mentioned Angie’s List, the BBB, and an attorney.  I don’t recommend others use Austin’s company, ever.  I also think it’s important to note that Austin still has never been out to my property at any time.
Response from Austin's Lawn Care LLC
"We were contacted last fall by [member name removed] to blow out his system due to the fact that his current company lost his appointment and he was worried his system would freeze, we were glad to help. We got him scheduled and done right away! We sent out 2 men and one of them has been installing and repairing sprinklers for over 20 years. This spring [member name removed] elected to start up his own system. There is a proper way to turn on the system and that is why companies provide this service, however [member name removed] decided even though he is not an irrigation technician he would take matters into his own hands to save money. We received several phone calls and text messages on a Saturday while we were closed and [member name removed] was panicking saying his back-flow was leaking. I decided to try and help out over the phone. While trying to help him out over the phone at no charge, [member name removed] starts to point fingers and blaming us for ruining his system. He said, "Since the 9 years I have lived here I have never had a problem." I had [member name removed] send me a picture. I immediately noticed his back-flow was an above ground RPZ and was not on unions which means after the blow out is completed that company can remove it and have the customer store it inside out of the elements. [member name removed] kept going on about how the previous company would hook up to the back flow to blow it out. I explained to [member name removed] that the initial installer over 9 years ago did install a blowout connection before the back-flow which is the proper way to blow out his system. I also explained that extreme weather can do damage to back-flows that aren't underground or taken inside. We had one of the coldest winters this city has faced in a long time dropping down to -8 degrees for many days at a time. Back-flows do come with a warranty at the time of installation by the company that installed them, NOT 9 plus years later. Don't take my word for it as I will list supply houses that are non-bias and can explain these issues as well. John Deere Landscapes 913-441-8226 and Reams 913-599-5407. It was obvious in my opinion that we could not help [member name removed] at this point but he would not stop the phone calls and the harassing text messages. I am glad he finally called someone else and got his system fixed but we will not pay for the back-flow that was installed by someone else so many years ago and is long out of warranty. The company who originally lost his appointment last year installed his new back-flow this year. They will be the company to provide [member name removed] with a warranty on this new unit."

In advance of winter weather season, called Austin and was added to his 'residential customer' snow removal list.  Thereafter, snow removal provided if homeowner deems snow fall levels are severe enough to require Austin's staff to plow.

It went great.  The project became more than originally expected due to an inordinate amount of rock in our backyard.  When all was said and done, we had to remove a couple of dump truck loads of rock from our backyard before we could even begin working on the landscaping elements of the project.
We've had several neighbors praise the quality of the work completed by Austin's crew who also made a special point of commenting on all the early and late hours the crews worked.
We are quite satisfied with the completed project and would recommend Austin's Lawn Care to all who want a professional, quality job done at a reasonable cost.

Austin's company was very helpful during last week's snow event, They told me they would not be able to get to my house for at least 24 hours and I was happy with that response time. They did a great job with the driveway and I am definitely going to talk with Austin about lawn care in the spring. They were very nice and helpful. Something that is truly appreciated.

I love them.  Of all the people we use they are the best.  They do snow removal but they haven’t done it for us.  A year ago in spring we were looking at having our lawn done as well as some landscaping and I found him and used him.  I loved his work so much that we decided to keep using him for everything we wanted done to our yard. His price is very good. He is very meticulous, very conscientious and very concerned about the customer.

They were fast to respond to a request to remove snow in my driveway. They also removed snow up a flight of stairs and off my front walk without my having to ask. They just took care of everything I needed without any prompting from me. Great company! Great Service!

We called three companies about snow removal from driveway, snow was very deep ( at least a foot or more in places). Austin's called right back with an estimate, and was here after 2-3 hours. There were four men working, 2 using snowblowers and 2 with shovels. My car was stuck in the driveway, they removed all the snow, cleaned my car off so I could get my car in the garage. They did a great job! I would definitely hire this company again.
