Great. Took about an hour. A tough task as the chimney had not been cleaned for some time. Also gave good recommendation for masonry repairs to firebox, which we followed up on and had tuck pointed. Seth easy and pleasant person to work with.

Seth visually inspected the flue from the inside and found that because I have a vent -free fireplace there is no problem and the fireplace is safe to use. He also recommended that I have work done on the bricks on the outside of the chimney which I had already scheduled. I would recommend "The Artful Duster" for chimney inspections. Seth is a reliable,competent,honest contractor.

My husband called the company three weeks ago and explained condition of our chimney. We expressed that we did not know the last time the previous owners had cleaned the chimney. He said he could clean it with no problem. We then expressed concern about the chimney having cracks and asked if he worked on chimneys that had visible chipping. He said he would go ahead and do the chimney cleaning and give an inspection of the damage. He arrived on time, looked at the chimney, and said the cleaning was pointless and still charged us a 65 dollar fee to do a visual inspection and did not provide a quote for repairs.

"[Member Name Removed]: Not cleaning a chimney that is not safe for use does come up from time to time and it is typically because it is in such poor shape, that cleaning it will not make it a safe for you to burn. This is something that unfortunately cannot be evaluated over the phone, by your husband's description. It would have been dishonest to have you pay me to clean your chimney, knowing that you will be unable to use it due to other safety issues. In my evaluation, you had serious damage and should not be using your fireplace. The $65 charge is my fee for a visual inspection, which is what you paid me. While I was there, I certainly would have given you an estimate had it been something that I was able to repair. As I recall, I told your husband that the repairs were going to be very extensive---possibly involving tear down of much or all of the chimney in order to make it safe for use. I am happy to give you a free estimate for those repairs at any time. I thank you for your business and feel free to let me know if you decide you would like to proceed with the project. Seth"

Seth arrived on time to inspect and clean the chimney, smoke shelf and firebox. It had been years since it had been clean and Seth informed me it was quite dirty. He performed his work professionally and left me with a clean chimney.
Seth is honest and pleasure to work with.
Please get your chimney cleaned frequently so you don't have a chimney fire leading to a house fire.

I have used Seth for years. As always, he promptly called me back even though I know he was super busy. He had a few open times immediately but those did not work for me so we scheduled a date and time far enough out to work for both of us. He showed up right on time. Seth is very fastidious and clean in his approach when you think about what a messy job a chimney would be. He inspects the firebox, the cap, the flue and everything else it takes to make a safe functioning fireplace work properly. Over the years he has advised me on the best types of wood to burn, how to store the wood. Though he has been at this a long time, he has not lost his enthusiasm for what he does. I would not call anyone else and would recommend him in a heartbeat.

He arrived on time. He was very efficient and pleasant. He pointed out a part of the fireplace that needed a little tuck pointing. He gave me a recommendation for a reliable man to repair it. Then he very carefully and cleaning cleaned my fireplace. I have used his before , and he is great.

Answered all my questions about my chimney that has never been used (the house was built in 1968). He got my fireplace going and went through everything with me. Recommended a masonry that did an excellent job.
