Ken worked for us for a while and we were generally pleased. He was pleasant and we had what appeared to be a good relationship. However, one day Ken just didn't show up. From then on it was a bad experience. He did finally contact us and apologize and assured us he would finish the job but he didn't. He still owes us money we paid him in advance and has the keys to our house (vacant). He is unable to be reached and I would not recommend using him.

After paying 650 dollars in advance for the humidifier because I sympathised with this contractor having signifcant outlay on the materials first before actually making a profit (which I do not have a problem with) the installation was repeatedly delayed from the original installation date of early December 2013 to early January of 2014.  I was then told that he required a further 250 dollars before he could start with the actual installation for labour charges.  He left a note, as I had to go to work, informing me that he was not able to complete this work and still owed me 175 dollars and he would either pay me back or 'work it off' .  I have not heard anything more from Ken Hughey, in fact the silence is DEAFENING and I want the money he owes me to be returned.  DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Ken Hughey's website states he has over 25 years experience and it shows. He showed up on time to go through all the projects we wanted to get accomplished, gave us ideas on configuring the cabinets in the kitchen we had not thought of, and explained the benefits vs cost of using certain materials over others to complete all the projects we had. He gave us an estimate on time to complete everything that was accurate down to the minute, did a great job of cleaning up afterwards, and best of all, the quality of his work is top notch. He turned an amateurish tile job into a gorgeous shower, which is the most amazing feat since I thought we were going to have to tear all the tile out and start over again. His carpentry skills in the kitchen were just superb in that he matched the style exactly of the cabinets the original owners built for the kitchen. I like the fact he does not subcontract out his work, his rate is economical and he is an excellent communicator, so you always know what is going on.
