Volkswerks

I was so excited to find these guys, I was needing the factory maintenance on my VW and they were 6 blocks from my work. They were unable to get me a quote on the phone for what was a standard recommended service from the factory. I stopped by to talk through everything with them, even showed the checklist for the recommend services. The total was more than the dealership before I even had the list completed. I thanked them for their time and walked out. I think these guys have a great history with VW, but from the impression they left me, they are not too worried about learning anything new (which involves at least a 2011 model year).

When I called my dealer to repair my Passat that I was not able to drive, I was told it would be a week before they could get my car in. I received a referral to Volkwerks from a mechanic that works only on Honda's and Acura's. Volkswerks told me they could check the car out on Tuesday, but when I dropped it off on Monday afternoon they were able to call me with the verdict by the end of the day. They were honest and forthcoming about what needed to be done, they didn't attempt to sell me on any other services at the time I was having this repair done. I would definitely recommend Volkswerks of Merriam as an excellent alternative to your VW dealer!

It was great--he gave us a detailed estimate and prices are fair. Expensive, but fair. Very nice to deal with.

The process went great. I worked with David who explained all of the costs with me. He even suggested that spending 2k on the A/C on a car this old might not be worth it. I always appreciated it when a service technical makes a conservative recommendation like this because it shows that they're not just interested in doing work just for the sake of doing work. They completed the other work exactly when they said they would and I felt that the car was running better than it had in years after I got it back.

I have used Volkswerks for about 5 years. It's one of the few shops that has a great diesel mechanic. In that time, they have replaced the timing belt, water pump, glow plugs, muffler, brakes, shocks, struts, power window motor, CV joints, etc. Service has always been exceptional. Very detailed hand written billing/invoicing. Great for record keeping. I've lived in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Missouri with this car. Volkswerks was is by far the best VW shop I've experienced. Not the cheapest shop. But the most honest, professional shop around. The mechanic will invite you back in the garage to show you under the hood, etc.

Turns out the problem was only a fuse and that was great news. Did a great job.

I have lived all over the USA and have had probably 20+ Volkswagens and Audis over time. I've found good and bad VW shops in my travels, and I will tell you that Volkswerks in Merriam is one of the top 5 independent VW repair shops I've ever encountered. When you find a shop that can work on a VW 412, a Vanagon, and a MK4 Jetta diesel with equal skill, you've found something. David, John, and Ken are the best. There are other places to take your VW in Kansas City, but I have yet to find a shop that equals Volkswerks in town. I put one of their plate frames on my wife's Golf and told her that if I am ever out of town or unavailable and she has car trouble, call the number on the frame and tell them you need help.

I've owned over 20 Volkswagens and dealt with VW repair shops all over the USA. Volkswerks in Merriam is A#1. Kansas Citians who are VW and Audi drivers are lucky to have a shop like this locally. Detailed estimates prior to work being done, they know VWs in and out, old and new. Save yourself aggravation, time, and money, and have these guys square your dub away the first time. The only other shops I've found this good were the Beetle shop in Franklin, PA, and Wooster's VW Repair in Salina, KS (the VW guru of the universe, now retired). You'll likely deal with David on the phone, and John or Ken will do the work on your car. Outstanding all around, and I'm a picky one too. Can't say enough good about this place. Fair pricing and fixed right the first time, no unnecessary work done. Thumbs up.
