It went beyond well. Having used Rescue My Gadget a few + times previously, I thought that it could be "rescued" by Tom. It was a nightmare for me because I tried to fix it and read so much, about similar issues to no avail. It turned out that the problem was out of the norm but as always, RMG got it back to perfect. Really, I can't say enough positive things about the company. They are excellent techs, responsive, punctual and very competitive. Tom is personable and explains things at whatever level that is appropriate. Thanks as usual!

He came out the same day and fixed the problems very efficiently. Price was as quoted. We would recommend him highly.

Tom brought the items necessary to fix my problems making sure my home network was strong enough to extend into my basement so my home theater system could connect properly.  He then followed up with me several times via phone and text to make sure everything was working as expected.  When I experienced an issue, he was right back again to try another option that got everything working just like I wanted.

Tom is Fantistic! I am a student, so my laptop and software programs are critical. He took my call on a Saturday morning, and while we were setting up an appointment he said, "Let's take a look right now." Of course I said OK! He remotely accessed my system, reassuring me as we went ("It's really not so bad"). Even if it had been worse, his words and manner went a long way toward calming my anxiety. Via remote he searched and worked for quite a while restoring my system. The final downloads were going incredibly slow for some reason, but again he reassured me that it was not an issue. While waiting he answered a few questions about programs and backups that I had. It became apparent the download would be creeping for a while - he asked me to call or text him when it was finished so he would know things went well or he could jump back on the problem. Wonderful customer service! So much better than Microsoft - they just bounced me around the world, and finally told me I didn't need one of the programs I was trying to restore for my classes (Microsoft Office ?) Why call the army when you can call your local David and slay all your giants? I will definitely use his services again.

He showed up on short notice (I believe it was within 24 hours after we called).  Not only did he get rid of the malware; he provided a clear explanation of how it might have happened (clicking on pop-ups for additional software when downloading Open Office, even though  Open Office is a legitimate site) and how the malware creators made their money (eventually they get you to call a "Tech Support" line where they take over your computer, install more bad stuff and demand money to fix it).   

It's been over a week and the computer is still running problem-free, but I noticed that a link for one of the programs that caused us trouble and was removed (Doc2PDF) showed up once in a browsing session.  I almost clicked on it thinking it was a link to a PDF of a file I wanted to see.  Be careful out there!

Alex came to our house and evaluated computer operations. He cleared over 12000 viruses and that still wasn't enough to return the unit to a satisfactory operating level.  He had to take the unit to the shop and when he brought it back it was operating satisfactorily.  This young man is the nicest, most professional person I have ever met doing computer repair.  We shared lots of info while he was here and shared some stimulating conversations.  He was a pleasure to have in my home and acted more like a person than a computer geek.  
When plan to address the setup here to minimize problems like this from occuring in the future.  Alex will be my "go to" computer guy.

The problem:  My 90-year-old father in assisted living in Overland Park had BIG computer problems. It was taking more than 20 minutes just to open a browser, and you could go to lunch and return before it would actually perform whatever operation you had asked of it.  Dad's virus protection software had been breached and the future of his computer looked bleak.
The process:  Found "Rescue My Gadget" on Angie's list and bought the $99 special package.  They gave me an order # and Tom's phone number and I called him the next morning.  We set a date and time for the service call, and I crossed my fingers.  Turned out to have been the best purchase I've made this year.
The service call:  Tom was great with my dad and with Dad's computer.  He was able to clean up viruses and malware, uninstall compromised security program and install new one.  Then Tom and Dad found that Dad's e-mail password wasn't working either.  Tom went the extra mile to reset Dad's password -- working with another relative, since the new code went to him -- as well as creating an e-mail icon. Now all Dad has to do is click on the icon to go straight to his e-mail.
The outcome:  Tom was professional, polite, knowledgeable, kind, respectful to my Dad, and he got the job done.  He worked well with everyone in my family.   He communicated with me throughout the process.  He is great!
I'm relieved and delighted to have found someone trustworthy and reliable, whom I can call upon to fix Dad's computer problems in the future.
