This was my review to the BBB: Mid-September, I went to Menard's "Meet the Contractor" Event to get flooring installed. I was quite emotional and vulnerable as I had made some major care decisions re: my 64yr old spouse with atypical Parkinson's Disease. The featured contractor promised to help me, fit me in in 2 weeks and to give me a good deal. After some delays in getting Menard's flooring, he came over with an Armstrong Flooring Sample Book and claimed he could get me a more quality product more cost effectively. I trusted Menard's chosen help regardless of their little waiver of "these contractors not being employed by them", despite how heavily this Event was advertised. In my grief and mourning regarding this huge life change and trusting Menard's, I paid in advance $1584.90 for flooring. I called him a few days later to see if he knew a painter since the rooms were empty. He returned to my house in less than 30 minutes, had an estimate of $2607.00 that I once again trusting Menard's paid. Long story short after multiple excuses and lots of timeless appointments that were changed to a different day time and time again, I am out $4,191.90 with zero work completed. Friends have since painted my front room and dining room and another flooring person will complete the long awaited work next week. I have texted and phone called for refunds on both projects although he states "problems with his cell phone." I asked for written contracts since he stated if I wrote the checks to him personally he could get materials sooner and said his wife would get me a copy of both jobs, but never received those after reminders. This all has encompassed a period of 5 weeks where I have had minimal furniture and plywood floors exposed. All I want is my refund for 2 jobs never even started.
