J & B Plumbing
About us
I am a small company with big results. I use the same tools, parts, and the same plumbing supply stores as the big companies. I do the same if not better quality of work, all work is done to local code, and my work is 100% guaranteed. The difference that you will notice is my pricing--I want your business; I do not want you to take out a second mortgage to pay for you plumbing issues to be repaired.

He surveyed the repair, indicated his plan to make the repair and began the process, which involved 25 feet of old pipe inside of a small, cramped and difficult crawl space. The repair included replacing an interior shut-off and drain valve, 25 feet of pex line and a new exterior faucet.
The provider worked for more than 3 hours removing the old supply line and shut-off valve, mostly as a result of new fittings, which would not take and hold solder.
He also, upon request, examined our sump pump and older lead-based drain pipes and made recommendations.
We have used this provider for a previous service/repair call and will call him again for any future needs. We view him as friendly, knowledgable, skilled and very competent, not to mention his very fair pricing.
As a side note, we had also contacted local,corporate-afillliated provider who had made a site visit and estimated the same work with the same fittings at a 10-fold mark up (over full retail price) and a labor charge amounting to over $700.
He removed my old rusted-in faucet which I knew wouldn't be easy. Replaced it with the new one I found at Home Depot. Did a nice job, quick and professional.
The provider completed the work in less than 30minutes including a minor adjustment to a previously installed shut off valve. The job was completed with a work-area clean up and a smile. Upon presentation of the invoice containing a most agreeable total, he repeated his one-year warranty on workmanship and thanked us for our business and suggested he would be happy to return for any other work we might need.
This was a very good experience from start to finish.
"Thank you [member name removed] for the write up I sincerely apreicate it. I always try my best and give my best, at times my persona mismatches with some, not many, but as I see it I am given one opertunity to show a new customer what J & B Plumbing stands for and is all about. There is no better recomidation than that by mouth and that to me is worth something, I say this all the time I would rather have a customer than an extra $50.00 dollars in my pocket any day. Thank you Brock"
Plumber got another element, locally sourced, and brought in the electrician on the last day of several, who determined that the wiring in the electrical service box was not standard (I believe the technical terminology used in the email below is "nonsense"). The electrician was able to assess the "nonsense" and fix the problem right away that evening.
The "finished job" included lines from the sink faucet that leaked at two line connections each on the hot and cold.
Advertised as flat "$85 / hour and that's it" by email from office manager Nikki, however bill showed $95 for first hour.
Had to go to Home Depot to meet the plumber to pay for materials ($80) after he called to say he didn't have enough cash on him.
Actual work (not including time spent burning up the heater element) took 2 - 21/2 hours. I was billed for 5. I offered to pay for 4 hours - 3 for the plumber and 1 for the electrician on the final evening. To this offer, I received the email below.
Rather than have to deal with more of this group's "nonsense" I paid the full bill online yesterday (one day after receiving the invoice).
"Shelley,
We charge $85.00 an hour, with that said often times I have to go clear across town and add $10.00 to the bill because of the amount of gas it takes for a round trip. That is neither here nor there. When I looked at the job, no I did not look at your box at that time, however when the part came in and I began work. I did look at the box. What I saw was two black wires and a ground wire. Whoever, put your electrical box in and put black tape from where the coating on the wire starts and the coating stops did it for a reason, and it is not up to code. That is neither here nor there. I am not an electrician but I do know how to wire a water heater and a tank less heater along with many other things, garbage disposals, dish washers etc. So when I looked in the box I saw it looked like it was supposed to, I have never seen a white wire covered with black tape before, nor have many other electricians or plumbers so with that said this also is neither here nor there. The thankless unit you have has a white wire, a black wire and a ground wire. These are all standard in wiring not a white wire with black tape from start to finish on it, so yes that was my fault for realizing it at first but I did correct the problem and fixed it. I?ve never seen it done like that and my electrician friend stated he had never seen that type of nonsense before either.
As far as myself stating that I do not know the electrical end of things I must clarify. I know enough about wiring I have two drain machines with electrical motor's that have been replaced this year and I wired the both of them up they run smooth as silk have not had a problem. My stereo and numerous other equipment, lights, etc., I have wired and I do not have any problems with. I did, as would any master electrician, had a problem with your white wire disguised to look like a black wire, there for whom do you want to blame for that? I did not, nor would I, install, and much less leave that incognito wire hooked up in an electrical box.
In regards to the heating element, I bought the second replacement heating element out of my pocket because I did want you to have to wait another 4 days for the mail to come, I did not have to but I thought it would be best so you could enjoy your element. The time you were billed for was the original day I started the install, not any additional time was billed other than to install the unit. This involved the following:
1. Unwrapped the multiple heat wraps from the existing lines.
2. Disconnect the old water heater the white and black wires along with the ground wire.
3. installed a junction box from where the old wire black and white and ground stopped and I connected some more new wire black white and ground I connected them with wire nuts and taped them with black wire, a Technic seen world round and is not looked down on.
4. I traced the existing wire back to the box to insure we had the right wire.
5. I re configured the water lines under your sink to make sense out of them
6. I installed the tank less water heater.
7. I installed the water lines to the water heater. Then re-routed the water lines in the manor you requested.
8. I installed a 1/2 ball valve and a 1/2 boiler drain so you could, if you wanted to shut the water off and then drain down the system.
As far as my hours I time and time out every job I have been doing this for years so if it took me five that is what it took. I did not charge for the time it took to round up the parts or the gas it took to pick them up, and as far as not having enough cash I spend over $2000.00 a week on parts for my customers and the majority of the time as in this case, I have to wait to get paid or there is some type of dispute, so my money gets tied up for weeks with no interest. I also give my customers my military discount as I did with you and I do not up charge parts as others do. I can look myself in the mirror every day knowing I am not that petty.
I tried to keep the cost down for you as I do for all my customers. Therefore, I take it personal when it comes time to pay and you want to dictate the cost of doing this job to me. You?re wanting me to eat an additional $92 plus change. I am going to leave it like this it took me five hours, no time additional was added, nor were the parts added. I have 60.00 dollars in parts additional from what you paid. You will see two parts listed on the invoice Nikki Sent which cancel out because of the $50 Nikki took off the bill in an effort to try and do the right thing. I stuck with this job and though it took more days than I liked due to a concealed wire I still saw it through. If you honestly want me to eat the $92.00 in question I disagree whole heartily. I do not know how to say it any other way but that it is unacceptable.

"What Customer left out of her report was the fact that her electrical box is ran illegally ,not to trade standards or to shotty work standards either, their is a white wire covered from plastic to plastic, meaning the whole area with white plastic has black electrical tape over it .because of this I burnt up two heating elements. The first I waited for the company to mail to me, when it got here it was re installed. again because of the illegally ran wire and as an electrical engineer Shelly should have known better.the second one one purchased out of pocket as so the Customer would not have to wait another four days. with this knowledge that I had done everything i knew to do I called an electrician friend who after some time saw the illegally ran wire and wired the electrical box correctly . This whole thing stems from pride the Customer cannot accept the fact that she has the full burden of guilt that the box was made to look like something it was not. I did not feel like I should be penalized by pay for her box The unit is installed correctly "to code " and is working great. I weed out customers like the Customer who have nothing going in their life's other than trying to jip a honest, Former Marine, small business owner out of money , and then post something like this nonsense. On this job as on all jobs I take on it was followed through yes it had a couple of bumps, they were not my bumps rather her,s put on me the unit took a wile because of one of the existing bumps but in the end out of pocket her thankless water heater is working ,is installed to code and I insure there is no white wire covered with black tape any where on my work . The hot water is on the left ,the cold on the right, when you turn for hot water you get it . There is also a shut off valve put in to allow the Customer to drain down system, as well as being able to hook up to her horse was station. I wish the Customer well, I will no longer do work for the Customer she has graduated her self along with her electrical engineering degree," Black tape over a white and its my fault" she can now pay the $150.00 dollars to pull into her driveway that the big company's around here charge. In this life as in this business I can not make every body happy I try my best, but some people are impossible this is one ."
