CAROL S.
Dec 2012
Jewelry Sales/Design/Repair
Returned on designated date to pick up completed ring. Ring was not in house and had been sent elsewhere for setting without my knowledge or consent.
Once ring was back in house and ready, arrived to pick up and found tanzanite stone had been damaged in process of setting (gash in top of stone directly at prong). Showed it to staff, they were very unsympathetic.
Appraisal had not been done as requested.
Rodium had been done on the initial setting then the head had been changed so the new head did not have rodium plating.
I sought appraisal elsewhere and was completely satisfied with the time and expertise of that appraiser.
At quarterly inspection, I received a reminder call as expected.
Once in the store for inspection, multiple stones were found to be loose (this is in a ring that had maybe 4 wears on it 3 months old??). They were unable to set the stones at that time and I had to leave the ring (which I was going to wear to a ball that weekend).
I again requested appraisal.
I again requested rodium plating of the new head.
Received the ring back with appraisal that was $2000 higher than the appraisal I had received from an outside appraiser (suspect).
Time of 6 month inspection came and went. Once I had realized I had missed the inspection date I contacted jeweler and was advised they only sometimes make reminder calls and if I brought the ring in immediately they would "reinstate" my maintenance contract. I had not received any kind of notification that it had been cancelled.
Very dissappointing service.
