When I joined, it was the condition that they would liquidate my time share; it's been a year and it hasn't happened yet. When I tried to book a trip to Phoenix in 10/18 for 1/19; I was told nothing was available When I tried to book a trip to Palm Springs for 1/2020; I was put on a waitlist. It took 4 months for them to come back and tell me they had one "mediocre" option; if I didn't take it, I probably wouldn't get anything. Today I tried to book Palm Springs for 10/19. I cannot book it without paying my activity fee (which is already paid through 6/30/19 and not due until after that). There is no way to waive it and they gave me a ridiculous excuse that because it's "live" on their website through RCI, I'd have to pay the fee. The 2 representatives who sold me this crap are becoming non-responsive. When we signed up for this, we were told that they wanted us to be happy and if we weren't we'd get a refund. Of course' that's not in the contract it's only their "word". The one representative knew how disappointed I was about not getting anything in Palm Springs and was willing to put it out of his pocket! Who does that????? Today I've sent them several e-mails about the liquidation and the necessity of paying the activity fee and of course I have not heard back. I also tried to look for a property in south Florida for the Fall. It seems that they have a "lot" of inventory, but it's only 1 property for a variety of weeks... not what we were told. Overall it's been extremely disappointing; I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and am now going to contact the local new station and facebook to express my discontent. Don't get involved with this organization!

Response from Global Discovery Vacations
"Thank you for the kind words [member name removed]! Branson is one of our most traveled locations and very popular with our membership. We hope you take advantage of more condominium vacations in the future. Happy travels!"

They are very honest and very accommodating. They take care of getting the place cleaned and always fulfill their promises. The tenants they have seem to be great people. They take good precautions to protect the owners of the properties they rent out. They don't allow pets or smoking either.

My husband and I in 2006, went to the pre-marriage travel presentation. (At that time they were marketing to poor newly weds.) They sold us a "Lifetime" vacation plan, which is based off of stars. We were told we would be allowed 3 stars each year to be able to travel to our destinations. THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO SEE THE DESTINATIONS IN WHOLE AND TOLD US IT WAS TO ALL THE POPULAR PLACES.
So 12 years later I still hate this group, their marketing (slick oil sales man style), their condos, their locations. We have taken a total of 2 trips with this group, count it 2 trips, because it is not easy to use, because the condos are not in ideal places, their travel agents hours are horrible and lastly the cost of the condos are more than what I can find on the web.
Ok, so destinations all the condos are weird places and not ideal. Every time we try to find any information from the travel department, we have to pay the first serious of money, before we even know what is available. Next, the fee "to maintain" the rooms when we travel for that year, is more than I just found a Disney area two bedroom resort. (So basically we calculate all the cost to line it up and to use the stars that year, it is more than I bought a beautiful condo/resort property for.) Next, the options we have to choose from, frankly some look very scary and old. And since some of them look the same they were 12 years ago, I afraid for them.
Moving on GDV had the audacity to market to us again 2 years ago, trying to make us buy a "better" of the plan...THE PLAN WE DON'T USE. Telling us this other plan could offer us so much more, for thousands more. We don't use the one we have because it sucks, you need to fix it and proof to us what you have is worth spending money....HOW ABOUT A I AM SORRY WE ARE BAD.
SO PLEASE DO NOT BUY THEM!

The sales pitch is fantastic.  You'll get hyped quickly into the idea that a typical vacation to, say Hawaii, can cost $200 a night easily and that's just a hotel room.  Times 10 nights, that's $2000!  However, for about $350 + $159 + $159 ($668) you can get that same deal, but not just with a hotel, with a condo!  They also claim they have 4 star accommodations.  In addition, they claim that with at least 3 months notice, you'll most likely get the times you need.
Unfortunately, you don't get to see the exact places they are talking about, so you have to trust what they say.  They stated that they send a few travel options to research before booking.
Not really knowing what we were getting we did some internet research and spoke with someone in the program.  We found that some of the accommodations were thought to actually be 2-3 star.  International travel options may also be limited.  Because we wanted to know what we were getting, we cancelled our contract within the 3 day window.
FYI- anyone who has signed up really can cancel within 3 days with no hassles.  Sunday does not count as a day, so you're never stuck, even if you sign on a Friday.
We were glad to hear this presentation, however, felt we could get better travel value from other sources.  For example, ebay has deals on timeshare deeds, RCI can be worked with directly and you can see what you're buying (they have a similar system- points instead of stars), and there's a website that we found that offers vacation options.
We think this is a legitimate business with real travel options, we simply weren't willing to take the risk based on not really knowing what we were getting for our $.  And there are many ways to save on travel.  Overall, we'd give it a B-.

Not sure I would purchase a membership with them again. I definitely would not refer a friend because of reviews I've read. We've belonged for 5-6 years and have traveled to Branson, P**** Gorda, and Tampa. The resorts were "off the beaten path", but clean. As I understand it these folks offer the "leftovers" from other travel clubs. You have to make your request at least 4 months in advance, probably more like 12 months if it is nice; then you don't find out you have it for 6 months. I think it takes some effort to find a good place. If you can work with that, it's a bargain to get 2 weeks in February on the water in Florida for $700.

Global Discovery Vacations is a scam across the board for a vacation club. They are disreputable, bad people. They give you a hardcore sale and you have to make the decision that night. We had three days to withdraw or cancel. They were going to somehow sell timeshares we already own. They kept promising to put us in touch with the broker but they never did. I don't know if the man even exists. They would tell us to call at 5 o'clock on Tuesday but when we did it went right to voicemail. There was no one there. We decided to cancel it and to throw out the paperwork but it was on Kansas time so we had to telegram them and we had to send return receipt to Kansas, all kinds of stuff. Everything they said nothing came through or happened the way it said it would. We got out of it very quickly. If you search for them on the Internet you can read how people are very dissatisfied with this company.
