When they put the unit it in, they put the piping for the air conditioning too close to the fence, and it sounds like an airplane taking off in my house. For the spring cleaning, they will fix that. The furnace would not come on, and the terminals were put on wrong, so they had to fix that also.

I've met 3 people at Polar Aire, and they were all pros. They explained everything really well, showed pictures for their diagnosis, went over options, and had the work finished within 3 days of our initial meeting. (The job itself took 1 person about 5 hours)
Excellent pricing, too.

We have had Polar Aire take care of our a/c and heating system since they installed it several years ago.  We have them under contract for a summer and fall check each year.  They are very responsive to the appointments we request; we have had a couple of problems and since we are contract customers, they are on site usually several hours after we call.  They tech's are first rate, knowledgeable and thorough.  I never hesitate to recommend them as a HVAC contractor.

We purchased a A/C-heater unit from Polar Aire a few years back. And like any unit we have had a few minor issues in the years since then. Not only was the original install quick and professional. The same can be said for the subsequent repairs. Professional and quick. They have made sure to take care of us even years later. We recommend them to anyone who asks.

Excellent.  During single digit weather, the furnace stopped working around 6:30 pm.  We have a service contract with Polar Aire and called the answering service, told them our issue and the service technician (Dave) called about 30 minutes later.  I told him our problem and he said he was finishing up service at another customers residence and would be over.  About an hour later he arrived, looked at the system and determined the motor assembly was failing.  He didn't have the part on his truck and was able to fix it enough to get us through the night.  Since the furnace was only slightly over 3 years old (which Polar Aire had installed) he told us the unit was still under warranty for parts.
Next day Polar Aire energized the parts warehouse to get us the needed part out of their stock and Dave installed it that afternoon - all is working fine now.  Dave is a real asset to Polar Aire - he knows his trade and cuts no corners; very professional.
We have had a service contract with Polar Aire since we bought the unit, and will continue to have it maintained by them.  By having the contract, we got a discount on the service call (only $35/visit) and also a discount on the labor for any work performed. Their office personnel take a lot of interest in their customers and I believe go above and beyond getting things fixed, especially when weather conditions are extreme.
Super company.

Went well. They were running a little late but called to let me know. When service provider did show up he was very polite, knowledgable and explained everything he was going to do, then when he was finished he gave me a complete report on what he found.

The response was great for it being a sunday after 5:00pm. I had to pay an after hours charge but I was glad to do it to get my airconditioning running. The tech was great and finished the work quickly and efficiently.

From the visit for an estimate to the completion of the job, everyone I worked with at Polar Aire were very professional and punctual.  The estimate provided several options based on what I was looking for in terms of equipment efficiency and budget.  I had quotes provided by two other well known companies in the area and Polar Aire's quote made it a "no-brainer" as to who I would use based on price, equipment brand, and equipment efficiency.
The install team arrived minutes before the quoted 8am start time and took great care to ensure that carpet and work area were kept clean and tidy.  They completed all the work in one day and I was very happy with the quality of the work performed.  There was one minor manufacture defect on the furnace side that was discovered at the very end of the day.  I received a follow up call the next morning to have someone return the next day after install to confirm what part was needed.  I received a call to schedule the part install a couple days before it even arrived.  The technician actually arrived a little early for the part replacement appointment and was very professional and ensured that I was completely happy with the job completed.
Thanks to the entire team at Polar Aire for a job well done!!!  I can absolutely say that I'm a very satisfied customer and will definitely be calling Polar Aire back for any service needs I may have regarding my new system.

Arrived on time, corrected a mis-labeling of one appliance on circuit breaker. Drop cloth in work area and to garage. Worked with no breaks. Cleaned area when work was finished. Made sure was functioning before he left.

They did pretty good. There were a couple of little minor mistakes they made that they had to come back out and fix. But other than that it was really good. They were fast and efficient. It was a good price. As soon as there was something that had gone wrong with the unit, they came back right out and fixed it. They did a good job. They fixed everything for free. We were satisfied with the price they gave us. They were very reasonable.

They (Shay) quoted approximately same price for 5-ton unit (we have a business in our basement with several PCs running 24/7) as other vendor quoted 3.5 ton units.  They were the only bidder that really understood how our utility company rebate and federal tax credits worked (the other vendors tried to sell more expensive HVAC systems).  Their configuration totally solved our cooling issues.  Their installers were friendly and efficient.
We have only needed service once (added Freon) in the three years of operation.  We have recommended them several times and will continue to do so.  Overall the best service company we've ever used.

I have been with them for quite a while and they have been treating me pretty excellent.  Their service people are excellent.  They come out and take care of you and they are personable and I like that.  They don’t tread extra steps to fix it for us.  My air conditioner is old.  Every year it gets clogged up and he would come out and fix it.  Finally, he came out and he rigged up the white plastic pipe and he fixed it green down that go into the drain.  He did that for free.  All I had to pay for was the pipe because for one thing they had worked on it so many times.  Their price is good.  He would do little extra things for us.  He is really nice.

The installation seemed to go well except that within a day and a half the system shut down. This happened at midnight and we called the after hours number 3 different times and no one ever called back or came to repair the service until the office opened in the morning. They apologized that their 24 hour service did not work this time. Someone was supposed to be on call but never called us. Then a repairman came out in the morning and spent quite a few hours looking for a problem and repaired the humidifier controls, which he said the installers should have been able to install correctly, but they can't and that's why he had to. One of my complaints is that the workers say critical things about one another in a very mean-spirited way. Plus now we have a control dial on the furnace sheet metal that does not work and should never have been installed. The humidifier was always supposed to be controlled by the thermostat, he said. We figured out that the system was tripping the breakers in the electric circuit breaker box. He then said that to solve the problem with the system shutting off, we needed to replace the two breakers in our electrical panel that serviced the system, because they were shutting off due to being too old: the house is 19 years old. Then he left believing that would fix the problem, however they don't replace breakers he said. So I went and bought and installed the new breakers and the system still shut off again within a couple of hours. We're still within 48 hours of the system being installed. So a different repairman came out and he finally figured out that the heating system wires had been incorrectly installed by the original team of installers. The 60 amp wire had been hooked to a 30 amp breaker, and vice versa. He also said very critical mean-spirited things about the installers and the previous repairman for doing this and for not realizing it. So he installed them correctly. He then left and within 30 minutes the system tripped the breaker again, the main breaker this time. So I called him back out, it is around midnight again, and he told us this time that the reason we were having these problems was that they had overloaded our electric box. He said that it was a 100 amp service and they had installed a system that meant the box had more than 100 amps trying to run on it now. He said anyone would have known that, including the man who bid the job and the installers. So replacing the breakers didn't help and was a waste of money and now after spending over $6,000 for the HVAC system, we were expected to have a new electrical service installed too. He said we needed to decide what to turn off. That the breakers would keep shutting off because the box was overloaded. This was during the middle of the winter and I was being told to pick what to turn off from an outdoor hot tub, the heat exchanger/ furnace and the heat pump. Turning off the heat pump would cause the electric bill to skyrocket he said, but might be the best choice. He also said we shouldn't use the humidifier. So there was no good choice being offered to us. And we were being told that they would have known that they were overloading our box, but never bothered to tell us that this would happen before they began the job. Next we experienced the heat pump starting to be very noisy, we called and the most recent repairman came out and said, oh yea, we knew this would happen. He said, the Freon can't be measured in cold weather, so we just put in a certain amount and then in the Spring we have to come out again and measure it and make it right. It'll be noisy till then, he said. It is right by our bedroom windows and we even paid extra for a "blanket" to make it quieter and yet no one mentioned that this problem would occur. I have used Polaire several times in the past. About ten years ago we had a problem with them installing a heat pump that was too small for our previous home and when we complained about the problems we were having, they came out, admitted the unit was too small and installed the correct size and charged us nothing additional. At that time, I was satisfied with how they fixed the problem. Now, clearly I am not. They also removed a door from the room they were working in and didn't replace it before they left, leaving me to have to do it. There was also a bit of difficulty with the bid when the job was done and we were settling up and since it was after the office was closed, there was no way to get clarification on it. I was being asked to pay $200 more than I thought I was supposed to and the installer had no one he could call for answers and in the end it worked out the bid had been poorly worded and explained to me. In light of what happened next, that was simply additional difficulty that adds to the problems we experienced this time. The system is now working, I had to have new electric service installed for another $3000 and the heat pump will be noisy til Spring I guess. All in all, this is the last time I will use Polaire.
Response from Polar Aire Heating & Cooling
"Member has been a customer of ours for years. This installation did not go as smoothly as we would have liked, and our 24 hour emergency service company did let us down. However, the very next day we were out there and fixed the humidifier problem, went through the intire system and found the bad breakers in the electrical panel. Because she was down over night she was very up set with us and we understand that, however after we fixed the problems I personally called Member and she said she was happy with our service and install and that she would write a retraction on angie list. Polar Aire installs over 200 systems a year and we have 100% guarantee customer satisfaction"

We have a maintenance contract with them. We were very happy with them. They were actually early and they did everything in one day. They installed the new ones exactly as described. We were very satisfied. They were very courteous at the store and all of the technicians that came out were courteous. They were clean and always put on the footgear to protect the flooring. They didn't drag anything through the house. They disposed of everything cleanly and efficiently. We had absolutely no complaints. We will definitely use them in the future.
