We learned our lesson but missed fireplace during holidays and cold spell in late December-January.
"The customer had a gas leak at the pilot tube, which caught on fire and burned a wire in half. It was our service techs professional opinion. (numerous years of servicing gas fireplaces, and many hours of technical training) and my own opinion after seeing the pics of the problem. That the correct way to fix the issue is to replace the pilot assembly, Pilot tube and the wire that got burned in half. When we are hired to fix something, we don't just put a bandaid or duct tape on it because the customer doesn't want to pay the amount required to fix it properly. Yes, we could have fixed it temporarily, but that is not how we do things. We suggest they call someone else, if they do not want it repaired the way we think it should be done. The customer failed to mention we did not charge them a service call for the time we spent to come out and diagnose the problem. We have been in business since 1988 and have serviced ten's of thousands of gas fireplaces and logs sets. We rarely ever get a customer that we is not satisfied with our service. This tells me that we must be pretty good at what we do."
