I brought in an advertisement from their website for a specific truck I was interested in purchasing. This ad listed a picture of the truck, VIN, MSRP of $49,115.00, "discounts" of $6,418.00 and a "Final Price" of $42,697.00. I test drove the truck and decided to purchase it. When I went to sign the paperwork, I noticed the base model price of the truck had increased to $45,892.00! I asked the finance Mgr. why the price had increased by over $3,000.00 but he couldn't answer the question. He called the Finance Mgr. into his office and I asked him the same question. After studying the contract for quite some time, he responded, "We had to add a destination fee and sales tax onto that". Since I knew I had to pay sales tax, I signed the contract and purchased the truck. That weekend I began to look over the paperwork more thoroughly and noticed the advertisement I had brought into the dealership stated that the destination fee was part of the "discounts" listed in the advertisement AND the sales tax wasn't supposed to be added into the base model price - it is added on a different area of the contract. So, Joe Balsamo, the sales manager basically lied to my face in an attempt to get me to sign the contract. Most people, including myself would classify this as FRAUD and FALSE ADVERTISING!
If anyone is interested in purchasing a new or used vehicle, DON'T GO TO McCarthy Chevrolet unless you like dealing with scam artists and liars!
