Johnston Construction Company LLC

DECEMBER, 2012 UPDATE: Mr. Johnston filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy case in US Court, District of Kansas, Case #12-41862 on 11/27/2012.  In his petition, he lists over 50 unsecured creditors (most appear to be vendors supply goods or services to Johnston Construction, LLC).  He owes this group more than $183,000!

Please do yourself a huge favor and steer clear of this company and its owner, Mr. Johnston. 
He was hired to perform a faily basic remodel on my mother's townhome. The project took entirely too long, he extracted very large payments during the process, performed modest quality work, utilized low cost materials (despite the premium price he charged) and had to be hounded to complete the final items even after he was paid in full. 
After the job was finally complete, he was requested to return on multiple occasions to address heating/cooling issues. He failed again and again to get the new system functioning properly. The last time he tried, he actually made matters worse by completely breaking the adjustment mechanism.

Shortly after the project was complete, my mother was diagnosed with cancer.
 
Mr. Johnston then preceded to take full advantage of my mother's misguided trust in him. Just days before my mother passed away while suffering severe pain and on a cocktail of powerful narcotics, he devised a scheme to acquire her farm property (which she owned free and clear) with zero money down and a super low monthly payment that will provide him 76.8 years to pay off the note.

To sum up this man's character: after the unconscionable terms of the deal were revealed, he indicated to me that the deal was perfectly fair and would find acceptable even if it were his own mother on the receiving end. 
The matter is now being pursued in the Court of Johnson County, Kansas, Case #12 CV 00793.
