I couldn't be happier than with the John Norris Foundation Repair Company.  Everything went smoothly from the telephone scheduler, Dirk the estimator, Ken the epoxy injection specialist and Mike & Alex the brace installers.  Everyone was on time, friendly and very professional.  They all cleaned up the work afterwards.  I would use them again, but doubt anything is going to move any further with this wall.

A great crew who Installed a total of five 4? steel Structural Restraints vertically, at the interior foundation walls.  Solid mortar was placed between the restraints and the foundation wall to provide and maintain positive pressure. Tuck pointed the interior foundation wall cracks at the entire interior east foundation wall.  Tuck pointed the interior foundation wall cracks at the west end of the interior south foundation wall. They took their time and did a great job cleaning up the area when they were finished.

A corner of our basement has leaked during heavy rains for years. We had the small cracks in the wall filled with epoxy, but this did not stop the leak. The water leaked from where the wall and floor meet. We obtained 3 estimates from different companies and chose John Norris because of their price and knowledge. The first estimate was for installing the damp proofing and dimpled drain board for about 10 feet of lineal foundation. Two men did the excavating and one man over saw the job and was there most of the time. After the corner was hand dug, we discovered that our house does not have drain tile (as my husband suspected) around the bottom of the foundation and the water accumulated in that corner of the house. After discussing options, we decided to go with the less costly option of installing a sump pump inside the basement, which happens to be an unfinished utility area. The men came back promptly the next morning with a jack hammer and created a hole in the corner for the new sump pump. The footing was very thick and required more time then expected, but we were not charged more. The men also completed the damp proofing and installed drain tile to the outside of the foundation and put everything back where they found it, including our little above ground sprinklers. They also carefully removed landscaping before starting the work. The sump pump they used is very quiet and after all this rain, everything is working beautifully.
A week after the work was completed, Mrs. Norris called to follow up and see if we were satisfied. We really appreciated that! Dirk, the owner, also came out to the job to look at things.

They left all of the garbage and junk materials from the job just at my house in the garage. They also didn't give me my 10% off. The work was fine but I was not very satisfied with the cleanup.

"We are sending a check in the amount of the Angie's List discount to [member name removed]. We received the request for this bid from her Real Estate Agent who failed to inform our Company that She had an Angies List Discount due to her. Our crew had assumed that another Company doing other repairs would haul away the small amount of debris from our repair with their repair residue. This was our mistake. Our Crew has returned to haul away our debris, finding that the Residue from another Company's repair was left in her garage. We have removed all debris from her property at our cost.."

I contacted John Norris, met with owner.  After acquiring several other quotes John Norris was picked because of references and price and simplicity. Did not try to over-sell.  Work was done in less than a day. Work is more than adequate and will hold up for years to come.  Other work will be needed on a different wall and will likely call JN.

We give this company our overall satisfaction with the work and price.  The workers were polite, did excellent work, and cleaned up nicely following their work.  We had our foundation inspected by a structural engineer prior to interviewing foundation repair companies.  Our foundation has continued to shift following the installation of 19 piers 10 years earlier by another company at a cost of $20k.  He recommended installing support braces on two sides of our basement and garage as well as grading the yard to assist water roll off.  The engineer indicated that for piers to be effective they would need to be set down to bedrock which was likely 40 feet in our area, and that it was unlikely that the piers had been installed down to the bedrock.  We called the company who installed the piers to come re-evaluate the work and help us develop a plan based on the new information.  They canceled 5 appointments citing various excuses.  Then we began looking for a new contractor.  We obtained estimates from two companies with high ratings on Angie's list.  Both companies were prompt to their appointments and explained their estimates well although their estimates on how much dirt was needed varied greatly.  We chose John Norris Foundation Repair because of price and our comfort with Dirk who worked with us on the estimate.  He made multiple trips to our house and was never bothered to make sure all of our concerns were answered.  He was accessible by phone and always returned my calls.  The final price was reasonable and the work was completed satisfactorily.  The only issue we had was that we were needed for two days for the epoxy procedure (one day for prep and one day to inject the epoxy).  I took off work for two days but the work only took a couple of hours each day.  I could have saved vacation days if I had known how long it would actually take.  Other than that, we are completely satisfied.  Unfortunately, with this type of work it may be quite some time before we find out if the work actually helped.  But the minor leaking in our basement is stopped and we feel like this was a reputable team that knew what they were doing.

The owner came to the house and got right to assessing the wall.  An appraisal was given and small talk was kept to a minimum.  This is the second time dealing with Norris.  Very professional and honest.

They were pretty good about coming out and actually said they will use the machine and check my yard, and put additional soil when they come back. But I have no idea because I work during the day. I think they did not do that.

He told me that it would be cheaper for me to do it than hire his company. I loved the fact that he was honest and he was ready to show me how to do it, because I was ready to pay them money, but he told me it would be cheaper for me to do it.

They were an excellent company I was really pleased with their work. They were on time. In fact, when they gave me a time for their work, they called and said they had a cancellation and wanted to know if they could do it sooner so they did it a week or 2 weeks sooner than what was planned. They were very professional. His name is Dirk. He's the one that initially came out and gave me a bid and looked over the house in case it needed piering. I knew when I bought the house 5 years ago that it needed wall braces put in and he did recognize that and said I needed 10 wall braces. Very professional company, they worked hard and I thought they did an excellent job for what they did. The pricing is very fair, very competitive. Very professional company. They don't try to sell you anything you don't need. In fact, the guy was really surprised, he didn't rule out piering but he would wait until at least spring because he said what he was seeing there was no evidence that our house was sinking at this time. 2 other companies both recommended putting in 16 piers but when he came in he said, I wouldn't put those piers in right now. He seems to be very honest and I'm sure the amount of work they've done over the years they realize what needs to be addressed right now and what isn't a major concern at this time. I was very pleased with their information. I had to call out to the office a couple of times to get some information, they were really pleasant and responded right away with any question I had. The guys that did the work didn't even take a break other than just lunch and they were out back doing their work and they cleaned up and did real good.

I felt like the owner blew me off even when I tried to set up the day and time to repair the basement.  I now wish I would have went with my gut feeling and not hired this company!  They told me it would take two days to do the repairs so I scheduled two days off from work.

They were finished in half a day.  They left a mess and did not clean up very well.  Tore out a basement window to bring the beams in so they would not have to carry them down the steps.  I had the black concrete mix that one of the workers stepped in and walked up my carpeted stairs.  I do not recommend this company......overpriced and will leave your basement torn up!
Response from John Norris Foundation Repair
"I'm not really sure what the member is talking about when she commented that I blew her off. When she called to schedule us to do the work we responded immediately and set up a day that worked in her schedule...We were able to put 2 additional workers on the job to get it done faster. Normally a job like that would take 2 days but instead took only 1 day (not 1/2 day)! Regarding the window, we generally prefer to take our 8 foot beams in through windows so not to damage any walls carrying them down to the basement. One of our guys removed the plastic insulating film around the window to pull the window out, however we had every intention to put it back on the window but she would not allow us to do it at that time. Part of this job requires us to come back and tighten a bolt when the concrete cures and it did take her a number of days to even respond back to us to schedule that. When we did come back to tighten that bolt, we fixed her window."

I had several foundation repair experts come to my house and Dirk Oberzan was the only person who examined my entire home, not just my foundation.  After examining my home Dirk determined the only repair needed was to fix the cracks in my foundation that was letting water into my basement and encouraged me to get a professional landscape service provider to fix my grading.  He refused to place a bid on adding tiers to our home.  If you have foundation questions, I highly recommend asking for Dirk to come out and look at your home.  Using John Norris Foundation Repair is the best financial decision our family has made in years.
