I would give them a B overall because they are hard to get a hold of sometimes. 

Initially I did not fill out a favorable review, based on the fact that I spent a significant amount of time, phone calls, and messages to get a return call, which made me start looking in different directions

I did get connected with Epic eventually and am glad I did.  Given I was getting estimates and design ideas from several companies for an extensive landscaping project my main focus was that it was done right.

Eventually I was contacted, and Epic apologized and recognized the delay for return. They since have made some process changes so that calls are returned in a timely manner

Kendall was our designer and did an amazing job.  He was always very prompt, returned called immediately, if I wasn't just connected to his cell phone, and gave very detailed drawings of what he designed.  He also broke this down to price for the total job or divided it into manageable phases that could be completed over a period of time if desired

We were so pleased with his design that we had it done completely, he was here daily to make sure things were going appropriately, As the project progressed we made some more modifications to get the design, look and functionality the way we wanted, and this was never an issue for them.

They were very reasonably priced, and definitely got our money's worth.

Great work.  Quality and professionalism of the staff and work was excellent.  This the third or fourth time that I have used them and I will use them again.

There was some really good things and some not so good things.

The original job was done well and the project manager assigned was great.  We were happy with the finished product.  We asked for some changes in the design and we were accommodated quickly.  They did make a mistake in the retaining wall and had to redo some of it, but that was also done quickly.

So, the original product was good. 

The problem was when our project manager left the company, and follow up work was needed - we had a few dead plants that had to be replaced - the communication was somewhat lacking as we had to call them back a couple of times.

The sprinkler system had to be started up in the spring and they were late getting that done, so it didn't get turned on till July.  But when the guy came out, he was very thorough and did a good job with the walk through on the sprinkler system.

Also, in the spring, we noticed some issues that we weren't happy with - we had dry stacked rock and the rocks were allowing quite a bit of soil erosion through and there were mismatched rocks that they had tried to just shore up with rock chips...a lot of rock chips.  We had a new project manager come out to discuss this with us and they did make some adjustments to the walls, but a lot of the issues we had, we were told that's just the way that product is.  Guess the frustrating part was that we wanted the new retaining walls specifically to avoid erosion- which was clearly communicated to our first project manager.  The erosion isn't major, but we didn't want this problem which is why we did the project in the first place.

We also have a bird's nest spruce that was placed in a bad location and has died.  I called the office about this last fall and still have not heard back.  Once the weather warms up, I plan on following up.

Overall, the experience was just mediocre.  They have some very good people who work for them - the guy who came out to winterize our sprinkler system was very good - but others who don't return calls or who just say things to placate you.  We feel we didn't quite get our money's worth and we were not impressed by them.

I use Epic for my inground sprinkler spring startup and winter shut down. Excellent service and professionalism.

the crew worked very hard. They made some adjustments and additions I asked for during construction. Very good job. Follow-up on things needs improvement. I would recommend Epic.

It was $100 more than they estimated. One of the tulip poplars died of heat shock and they refused to replace it. Then they sent me a document, which they claimed was an invoice they sent me, however that is not accurate as it looks nothing like what I received. This new invoice they sent list no warrantee but the contract does say warrantee. When I contacted the head of the company, he refused to call me and made me feel like I'm not worth the time. I'm disabled and I believe that's why he's refusing to talk to me. So I was well enough to sign the documents but not well enough to discuss them. Now I am no longer willing to discuss it and may be looking into small claims court to resolve the issue.

They are like an A+++. It was expensive and we wished that it was less but we got what we paid for. They were incredible. The designer was Scott and he was really the best. I would dream that I could use them again.

The service was very prompt. It rained during the afternoon of the first day of installation and continued to rain for the next 5 days. The very first day it stopped raining, they were out here first thing in the morning and had everything completed by the afternoon.

Our existing 20 year old landscaping had become a high maintenance nightmare! Some bushes had grown to over 8 feet tall, others had been partially killed off by spring time snow, and visually there was no color around the house except green. We knew we wanted a low maintenance solution, with something which would bring some color into the landscape and would be a showcase in our neighborhood, but didn’t know what we really wanted or how to get there. We contacted two landscaping companies which were highly recommended on Angie’s List, both of which came out promptly to our property, listened to our needs, and developed very competitive designs. We went with Epic Landscapes, as the solution Ken our designer came up with, while more expensive than their competitor, which very unique and unlike anything else in our subdivision….his plan had visions of something you would see in a much more expensive neighborhood, but still affordable enough we will be sure to get our money back if we ever decide to sell our home. Ken’s design incorporated a dry creek bed (which provided a drainage solution for one of our gutter downspouts), beautiful distinctive trees (Oriental Spruce, Chinese Maple and Sweet Bay Magnolia), prairie grasses (Maiden Grass and Dwarf Fountain Grass), fragrant Dwarf Lilacs, for color all spring, summer and fall long, a host of perennials (Asters, Lythrum, Coreopsis, Catmint and Astillbe), large mossy boulders thoughtfully and strategically placed throughout the property, and to complete the effect, up lighting on the trees and boulders, with down lighting on the walkways. He met with us multiple times at their own private nursery so we could see what the plants looked like and also so we could pick out and tag the trees and bushes we wanted. Epic’s crew supervised by Fidel was amazing…hard working and on time every day for 3 days, at the end of every day they cleaned up the property so that you couldn’t have even told they had been there (unlike a neighbor down the street who’s yard was a mess with another company). Ken came by several times each day to make sure the project was going as he planned, and to answer any questions Fidel may have had. Overall we are very very pleased with how our landscaping turned out and are hoping to use Epic for a hardscape backyard project next year!

They did a good job. They are fine with the price. I have a contract with them which I renew every year. They turn off the sprinkler heads during fall and start them up again in the spring. I have used them for a long time and I like them a lot. They are always on time or early. They are very professional as well.

They did everything that they said they would do. I had no problems at all. Any question I had they answered them right away. It ended up working exactly like they said it would. It really did look good. When they came out the year before to draw the plans, they looked at the back yard and came up with some suggestions. I couldn t afford to do that at the time but I maybe next year I will do the back. They come up with good ideas and it s not the same old same old. That s what happens a lot in landscaping. Everyone s yard looks alike. There were a lot of plants involved. They totally redid my front bed for me. They were able to used most of what I had planted in addition to what they bought in to keep the price down. They moved the juniper because I didn t have it in a good spot. Nothing has died. I told them I wanted something pretty easy to maintain. I thought they did a really good job. It blew me away how good they were. I had never done any business with them before. I called four people and these are the only people that called me back right away.

GOOD, BUT EXPENSIVE.
