Ken Hollingshead and Distinctive Home Exteriors have done a wonderful job re-siding our house. It was just an overall rewarding experience. Ken had a very competitive bid from last fall. I asked if he wanted to include a price increase to this spring but he stayed with the bid price. He listened very well regarding what we wanted, gave us options, and communicated throughout. He was on the jobsite daily, always answering any questions I had about the project. I can't say enough about his crew. Regis, the project manager, is very knowledgable and professional. The other employees Jose, Ronan, Carlos, Breigan and Joseph are amoung the hardest working, most efficient and friendly , I have ever come across. Ken and the installers follow all parts of James Hardie's stringent Best Practices Guide. As I mentioned to him after the project, I had read the Guild Quality Reviews on his company during our research, and told my wiife, after reading review after review, I just sut it down and stopped. On time. On Price. Less time than we thought it would take. The crew was extremely polite and competent.

We selected Distinctive Home Exteriors based on their knowledge of James Hardie products, their experience and commitment to Hardie installation requirements and the attitude that they'd do whatever was reasonably needed to do the job properly for the quoted price. We had Hardie lap siding applied on 3 sides of the house (front of house is stucco) and replaced the soffits and fascia on those sides also. The work was done when promised, in a very professional way with excellent clean-up at the end of each day. We are very pleased with the end result and would certainly recommend the company to anyone considering this major project.

Job done very well! Owner on job sight every day. Very responsive to all questions and needs before, during and after completion. Installers worked pretty much 9 to 10 hours a day. One day evening cleanup not done so well, expressed concern to owner, no problem after that. Not the cheapest or most expensive. Impressed by owner who told me how job was going to go and what was needed to be done correctly.

Ken was a very professional person to deal with. He spelled out what the project would entail, even inviting me over to look at homes in his neighborhood that had been sided in the last few years. He put me at ease that they were the company I wanted to work with. His crew always showed up early, and worked late to finish the job, even during extremely hot temperatures. His foreman Regis, was on site most of the time, and Ken came by daily to check on things. Overall, the house looks very nice, a huge improvement over what we had. Any critique I have would be related to what I consider to be "finish work", or attention to detail. I thought some of the colored caulking could have been a little more carefully applied in order to prevent smears, particularly where that color met up against a trim color. Ken did explain afterward that this particular caulk is hard to smooth, which I had not heard before. I believe some of the worse caulking occurred the last day, when a few workers who hadn't been doing the work came to help with the finish work. Also, some of the pieces that needed to be painted were painted very thin, where the white board material was visible thru the paint. There were a couple times where trim boards were applied that were not level. After pointing it out, it was corrected, but it could have been avoided all together thru the simple use of a level. Final comment deals with the trim flashing (e.g. - over a garage door) I guess I was thinking it would be one solid metal piece running the full length, so that it wouldn't be noticeable. Apparently they only have 8' pieces of metal, so where they join up or overlap, it's noticeable. Would have preferred to find a way around that if possible.Again, overall, the job looks very nice, and I could easily recommend Distinctive Home Exteriors to others. My critique points are very detail oriented, and not meant as a negative to the overall experience.

We were looking for a certified Hardy installer and got several quotes. This company had the lowest quote. My husband is an engineer and worked as a quality control manager for several construction projects. He was very pleased with the work they did. Customer service was great. The work was done quickly, efficiently and was finished when promised. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Ken and his crew.
