Poorly. The technician was to clean the duct in anticipation of a new dryer. Signed and paid but he also was curt with appliance delivery so they had to return. Once he left, we had a problem with wet clothes. Switched dryers and still a problem so I called a separate dryer duct "repair" service (Diamond advertises they only clean) assuming a hole in the duct somewhere. The second service discovered a large amount of lint in the outside vent opening (a handful right where the first tech started), water and lint in the plastic vent tubing under the house and a massive clog near the dryer itself in a space that the first tech should have known presented a technical problem (we had a "u" in the vent construction that typical rod cleaners would not have reached). No wonder clothes would not dry. I went ahead an replaced ductwork with new aluminum. I contacted Diamond's owner, whose only reply was that they would have come out for a second cleaning. Clearly, a bigger problem that the original tech never disclosed at the end of the first "cleaning." A waste of money.

I hired Jeff Jines of Diamond Duct Cleaning, LLC to clean and sanitize our duct work. My 5 year old son and I were home at the time, but as this home is new to us, I was working on my own things throughout the house and did not see the provider while he was doing his work. He spent between 2-3 hours at my house, and yes, I heard his machine running, but I did not see him doing the actual cleaning. Because this provider had received positive reviews online, I did not think I had anything to worry about, and I paid in full. The next day, I was replacing one of my vent plates in our living room and discovered that the duct was filthy. I checked the other 2 in the living room, both of which were dirty. I just assumed he missed the living room. I texted him and said I thought he might have missed that room. He said he remembered doing it but offered to come out and clean the three the following week. Over that weekend, we were doing other house projects and noticed that our main HVAC intake was covered in dirt! We ended up removing every single vent plate - intake and return - and discovered that out of our entire system, only 3 were "passable". We documented each vent and took 67 photos. We found everything from action figures, construction scraps, wads of paper, giant dust bunnies and duct walls just covered in dust. After we saw this, I did a little more investigation online. Mr. Jines' videos show him taking far longer to do vent work than he spent at my house. It also shows him using a blue attachment that displaces dirt and debris from the walls of the ducts. I never saw this tool until I saw it on the video. And it also shows him using an additional vacuum hose - which he did not have. He only used the hose that I presume normally holds the attachment. It also shows him cleaning and vacuuming the vent covers themselves - also not done at my house. I ended up appealing through Thumbtack, the service I used to find a duct cleaning professional, since I obviously got taken for a ride and did not trust this provider to complete the job. But unfortunately, they only offer neutral mediation - no judgements are made in the end based on evidence. We are not surprised that we could not reach an agreement with someone who is so unethical, untrustworthy, and unprofessional. Of course, he is calling me a liar...even with 67 photos documenting the current state of our ducts, to which he has never had a response. My only recourse then is to do my best to make sure this provider doesn't scam anyone else. Beware!
