SHOE EXPRESS - FAIRWAY

Anyone who values the quality and comfort of favorite leather goods needs to know about this shop, which is tucked in right behind First Watch in Fairway, across the parking lot from Hen House. I live in the area, but I'd drive miles to do business with these Shoe Gurus. The gentlemen (and they really are!) who operate this shop belong to another era of craft and dedication.
These are serious professionals who treat customers and their leather goods with enormous respect. They deliver superior quality, ready when they say it will be, at fair prices that add up to lots of savings for customers who can keep using well-made leather goods for a very long time. (Actually, they make even my cheap pair of Target flats look expensive, the polish is so good.)
Their work is beautiful. Every time I wear boots, someone admires the leather -- most are years old, just in perfect condition and gleaming the way new leather rarely can. But these leather experts will be honest about what is possible. If something is ruined beyond repair (or a shoe squeaks in a place that can't be reached) they won't promise a miracle. Even so, what they've done with some our family's pieces seems miraculous -- stiff, worn and dirty leather of old bags and purses made supple and clean as new.
Everything about Shoe Express service and quality is first-rate.

They did a really good job with the shoes and they look great.

I brought my shoes in, initially for an estimate since both pairs were fairly worn and I did not want to invest much in repairing them. One pair just needed new heels and were ready for pickup the next day. The second pair had extensive damage to the heels. They were able to remove the damages surface and treat the heels so that they looked quite nice, although different from the original finish. When doing the repair they found one of the soles was cracked and asked if I wanted to have that repaired too, which I did. They were very prompt, friendly, and very willing to discuss prices and options before having work done.

These guys are the absolute best. I don't live in Fairway any more, but I make it a point to drive to Fairway, to have my shoes repaired. I have tried three other shoe repairs closer to where I live in Overland Park, but the quality of their service comes nowhere close, to what I get in Fairway. They can really extend the life of shoes. I have taken those posted heels, that other shops have told me cannot be repaired, and these guys make them good, as new. I think one of the former owners, now owns a different Shoe Express store, don't know where that is. The Shoe Express in Fairway, is one of those fantastic little places, that gives first rate service. I would be crushed, if they were to close their doors. Their shoe shines are a little pricey, from my perspective, as I'm not one to typically have someone shine my shoes, but really do make old shoes look brand new, maybe even better than new, and are well worth the money. I only wish, they were open longer hours.
