Jeff promptly came out, measured and gave us a proposal for the cost of all the windows that we would like to eventually replace. He gave us options of the different types and styles and answered all of our questions. He is very low key and DOES NOT pressure you to buy and does not push the most expensive model, but points out practical issues and lets you decide (due to my previous research of Consumer Reports comparing Pella, Anderson, and Marvin models, I knew that I wanted the Marvin Integrity Ultrex model....FYI, Marvins were just slightly less expensive than the comparable Pella model at the Pella Store and had a higher Consumer Report rating) . Due to the cost of high quality windows, we opted to replace several of them a year until we get them all replaced in the the house. The insurance settlement only covers the cost of the cheapest builders grade windows that we currently had. In the winter, I could be sitting in the kitchen and feel drafts coming in so I wanted to replace them with the most energy efficient windows possible!
Once we made the decision, we paid a deposit for half of the total cost and then paid the remaining half after completion of the work. Jeff ordered the windows, notified us when they arrived (approximately two weeks later), and called to set up an installation date. The windows were delivered and Jeff arrived around the same time. He installed the first order of windows last July (2011). He was attentive to detail and insulated the frames very well. The contractor for the builder had just put the windows in WITHOUT any insulaltion, no wonder our air conditioning bill was so high! Jeff also replaces any wood rot in the frames. This time, the sills had to be replaced due to leakage because the old window did not seal properly when shut. Mold had also grown under the wood window sill. The summer 2011 install took several days because we had quite a few of the main level windows installed, but despite the heat and some unexpected problems that arose, Jeff was patient and professional. He communicated well and asked for permission to leave some of his tools overnight in the garage....he had to bring large saws, etc. When the job was complete, he cleaned everything up, noticed that the door from the house to garage wasn't closing properly and then repaired the door without charge. Jeff even installed a new lock for me (at my request). He did not bill me for the lock installation and charged me only a nominal fee when I reminded him that I planned to pay him. Also, the other thing that I really liked was that Jeff does the work himself and does not use a subcontractor. On the bigger job last summer, Jeff did have to bring in an assistant (who was also very clean-cut and polite) to help him for part of the installation due to size of the windows and the complications. Oh by the way, even if he runs into a more complicated installation than he anticipated, Jeff honors the original quote and does not up the price on the customer (unlike some of my previous experiences with contractors)!
Needless to say, we had such a positive experience last summer with Jeff at Mourlam Window & Door CO. that this Spring we decided to replace two large bedroom windows in the lower level so Jeff just completed the second Marvin Window installation. Once again, we were very pleased with the entire process. By the way, after the main level window replacement with the Marvin windows last summer, our even pay KCP&L bill DROPPED by $100 per month and our natural gas bill also decreased. I can not say for sure if the windows made that big of a difference, but since it was sooo.....hot last summer and we didn't change anything else, I have to think that it did make an impact! Jeff Mourlam does excellent work at a fair price!!

The owner Jeff worked 7 days a week to replace the windows as quickly as possible during some of the hottest days of the year. The custom round-top windows required extensive tear-out and rebuild, more then originally planned however Jeff finished the work and stuck to the original proposal price. His work was thorough and of very high quality. The windows look excellent and our house is much more quiet and comfortable.
