I called to set an appointment to get an estimate to have a small glass block window installed in the bathroom. The call taker advised that "yes, we do install glass block windows". I got a verification call from the guy who was about to come out and when I told him that I wanted to get glass block windows he advise that they do not install those. Was a big waste of time.

To sum up, I experienced the following: a. Up-selling of services that should have been included. b. improper measurement that took the project from standard replacement to custom. c. cancelled installation by installer at last minute due to improper order fulfillment. I went to Home Depot to order replacement French Storm doors for the front of my house. I measured myself per the manufactures website, but had doubts, so I paid the $30 to have Home Depot Home services come out and measure ..Not surprisingly it came back that the doors were of custom size. That took the total price from $600 up to $1100 installed (it was too wide for standard per HD). I reluctantly went ahead with the order and was told the doors would be in on or around mid June. I finally received a call from the millworks department on 06/23/2008 stating that the doors were in and I could come by and pick them up. I thought this strange since I was having them installed, I had assumed the doors would be brought out by the installers. I called HD and I was told whomever took the original order had set it up for customer pick-up, but for another $30.00 I could have the installer bring out the windows. I went round and round with the HD rep and finally he did me a favor and waived the extra fee. I was called by the installer and was given the 11am -2pm slot on July 2nd for my install date. The installation required that I take the day off of work, and on July 2nd I awaited the installer. At 9:30am I received a call from the store. They could not find the astragal (joins both portions of the French door) and said they would have to reschedule the installation for a later date. Explaining I didn t appreciate getting a call cancelling 90 minutes before they were supposed to show up AND the fact I had to take the day off work landed on deaf ears. The HD person was very unsympathetic and said there was nothing he could do ..Hearing that, I let him know there was something I could do, namely take my business elsewhere. I told him to cancel the whole job and please credit back the full amount of the charge. To add insult to injury I just now found out measurements stated in HD s quote fell within the manufacturers size range for a standard 30 x 81 door. That meant HD was trying to overcharge me by almost $500 by claiming a custom size was needed. I placed an order with another company and have my fingers crossed it will go better. I will not recommend Home Depot or their Home Services.

THEY CAME OUT AND TOOK MEASUREMENTS AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE, THEN THEY HAD A DOOR CARPENTER COME OUT TO INSTALL THE DOORS. THE MAN INJURED HIMSELF THE FIRST DAY ON THE JOB, SO IT TOOK ALMOST TWO DAYS BEFORE HE GOT BACK. THEN HE COMPLETED MOST OF THE JOB, BUT HE LEFT TWO DOORS UNFINISHED AND DIDN'T COME BACK FOR ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH. I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE ON A CREDIT CARD. THE WORK WAS DONE VERY WELL, IT JUST TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET THE JOB COMPLETE. THEY DIDN'T CLEAN UP THE WORK AREA, I HAD TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEY LEFT.

THE INSTALLERS CAME AND TOLD US WE SHOULD CALL THE COMPANY ON EXISTING WATER HEATER. WE DID THIS AND GOT A NEW ONE. VERY HONEST PEOPLE.

THE PRICE WAS FAIR COMPARED TO SOME OF THE OTHER COMPANIES WE CHECKED. THE EMPLOYEE WAS NOT VERY QUICK, SO WE WAITED QUITE A WHILE TO BE RUNG UP.
