Scott arrived shortly after the start of the time window, he quickly assessed the issue and started working. Quickly, he fixed both toilets and even cleaned up afterwards. There was a little water on the floor in one of the bathrooms, and Scott took the time to retrieve a shop vac and clear the floor. When he was done, he reviewed the repairs and we inspected both toilets to make sure I was happy that the issues had been addressed. Although this is the quality that I have come to expect from D and I (always excellent), it’s always nice when your expectations are met.

It went great. The service man from D & I was prompt, polite and got right to work. He cleaned out the old was seal which had to be removed then created and installed a larger, higher seal to compensate for the raised floor tile. It now works perfectly...no more leaks. He also made sure everything was clean before leaving. This was completed in a little more than an hour.

Sewer backed up in the morning.  D&I was the only plumber available for same-day service.  Was concerned about some of the reviews on the web, but they mostly dealt with Heating/A/C.
Plumber cleared the clog, replaced malfunctioning toilet shutoff, cleaned up, was very profressional and courteous.

He fixed it fast and was very professional. I was at a home were he was doing plumbing on a newly refinished tub. He set towels down to ensure none of his tools would scratch the finish. I have recommended them to everyone I know.

After visiting with the business owner in my home to explain what work I wanted done, we agreed on a price and date to start work. Having been given permission to start the project while I was at work, I returned home from work to discover the wrong bathroom had been gutted. Thankfully, the business owner promptly rectified the problem by re-installing all new toilet and vanity to replace the ones that had been removed.
The problems developed after that. The concrete sub-floor had to be ground down to level which generated an incredible amount of dust. No plastic sheeting was hung or other protection for the dust, so I found myself dusting every horizontal surface in my house, particularly the master bedroom onto which this bathroom opened. The caulking around the base of the toilet and along the base of the tub was of an inconsistent width and crooked. I called the company, they sent someone out to re-apply it. The plastic bolt caps that sit atop the bolts holding the toilet in place were unattached because the bolts had not been cut so the caps wouldn't snap in place. I called the company and they sent someone out to rectify this. The baseboard had a thin coat of white paint applied that allowed the wood grain to show through. I chose to re-paint it myself. The faucet on the vanity was wobbly. I called the company and they sent someone out to address this issue. The repairman explained to me how easy it would have been for me to have fixed that myself, but he went ahead and tightened the faucet as if he was doing me a favor. The vanity was installed so that one end nearest the wall was about an inch from the wall - too small a gap for me to clean or dust between the wall and vanity but not close enough to seal it with caulk. I moved the vanity myself and re-secured it. The company called to discuss when to send someone out to hang the mirror above the vanity as we had discussed originally, but I said "Never mind, I'll do it myself".
Given the enormous error that started this whole project, I expected a call at some point from the owner to check on my satisfaction with the work his company was responsible for. He never called. Even if the gutting of the wrong bathroom had not happened, a good business owner whose company provides a service like this contractor should check with the client to see if the work was completed to the client's satisfaction.

I had D and I perform siding work for me before and they did an excellent job, gave a great estimate, and performed well. So when I needed as second job done I called them and asked them to take care of the matter. I relied on my previous experiences with them as a barometer of what my current experiences would be. That was a grave mistake. I allowed the work to proceed without an estimate. My logic was that they are doing much less work, covering less area, and should be able to complete the work in less time. I then went out of town for a conference leaving the workers. When I returned I received a bill that was a complete shock. Apparently the job that had only one man when I left needed three. Each of these guys was paid ($38.00 per hour) according to the invoice and that they had work for a number of hours. I was in utter shock at the final bill of some $3800 + dollars. I could not believe it. The price was completely out of line with the amount of work done and the pay rate was far above what is standard for the area. To add insult to injury they charged me a fuel supplement of $5.00. I was very surprised by the overall bill and felt that if I had an estimate that it would not have been as high. I did pay. However this experience has soured me on D and I forever. I need some work done now but I know who I shall not call! I discussed my experience with other contractors in the area (just to get possible estimates) and they all came in much lower than the $3800.00 that I was charged. If I had not been blinded by loyalty I might have been able to get the work done at a more reasonable price. The overall quality of the work is not bad, but having paid one and half times what I should have paid has made me less happy with D and I than I have ever been with anyone.

There were at least three instances of where the hardwood flooring being installed was not straight or had a bump (did not seem correct) and was pointed out to the installer. At that point, there was not much he could do. Also, when the carpeting for the remaining two bedrooms was trimmed by a carpet installer employed or contracted by this company, the carpeting was cut back a little too far (to fit under the hardwood threshold for the door adjoining the carpeted room to the new hardwood hallway). Again, nothing much could be done at this point - the damage was done but this too was pointed out to the installer. Next, It was discovered when their plumbing company came back to reinstall the dishwasher in the kitchen that the installer had installed the 3/4" hardwood to the entire dishwasher alcove under the counter. Apparently the previous laminate floor had ended just past the edge of the dishwasher. When their plumber came to install the dishwasher, he removed the insulating blanket around the unit to get it installed and seemed to be ready to dispose of this insulating cover/jacket before I went back to check on progress. Again, he told me not much could be done. I paid the bill for the plumbing installation but do remember speaking to someone there about the plumber and how it was hid from me that the blanket would not fit. Luckily I had returned in time to check on progress where I retained the "blanket/jacket". Another issue during the hardwood installation is that no protection was used to keep my walls from marring in some areas when the pneumatic nail gun was used along the edge of a room. I still have the marks in the living room. When we chose to have the carpeting in two of the three bedrooms on the main level replaced with solid wood, we chose another company and noticed how they protected the walls from disfigurement. Of course this work was done in early 2008 so perhaps they have improved since then. I believe the flooring installer did the best he could, was personable and polite but not much could be done to correct the situation. My only recourse was to not use them again. I was not happy with the way the plumber hid the problem with the dishwasher. I promptly paid all costs/invoices and again, decided lesson learned - just do not use them again.

I called Dand I for a clogged main drain. Because they were busy, it took two days to gert here. Once the plumber arrived, he began working on the drain. It took over two hours and he still couldn't even get the snake to the clog. He spilled waste on our living room carpet and all of his tools were soiled. He then called in another plumber, who arrived and within 30 minutes decided that I needed to call a plumber that had a camera. They then left without fixing the problem or even being able to tell me what was wrong. Their guess was that I had a collapsed line. I called in Roto Rooter and they came within two hours and had the clog cleared within an hour after that. I was then charged by Dand I for $385. When I called to complain, it took a lot of persistance and two days to talk with the owner. He merely refunded $100 and told me that he didn't understand why his guy couldn't get it fixed while the other plumber completed the job in 1/3 the time. I will never ever use this company again and will ensure that everyone I know avoids them.

The two spickets on the outside of our house were old, and dripping, so I called Dand I for repair work. A friend's husband worked there and she had good things to say about the company. They did excellent work. Both spickets were replaced with uber industrial one's - of course I wasn't home and my husband approved. They work well and have a mechanism on them to drain water from the pipe so they do not freeze in the winter. The board under one of them was rotted so they had to replace the board. The cut was perfect and the seals around the spicket and the adjacent walls were solid and complete with sealant. They did not prime the wood for which I was disappointed, but I did not ask and it wasn't necessarily their job.

Dand I was a great experience. we just purchased the home and wanted to replace the floor right away, Sam the representitive who did the work for us was very professional. our family was leaving for Europe in a few days asked Sam if he could do it before we returned and he did just that. we had over purchased on our flooring, some people would have taken the opprotunity to take the extra flooring and sold it or use it somewhere else, not these guys. when we returned Sam informed mr tha t he was done and we had a lot of flooring left he just wanted to know if we wanted to do a portion of our basement. he did everything we asked even at the last minute. if you want a great team with a great attitude then use Dand I they were perfect and i will be using them again. Thanks guys

I'd had poor experiences with a prior plumber (not showing up on time, not showing up at all, not finishing the job, etc.) so I decided to try D&I. They have a full-time receptionist. When I called they were able to schedule an appointment for me the next morning. The second time I called with a sewage emergency it was a Sunday and they were closed. I planned on calling them the next morning when they opened at 8am, but to my pleasant surprise, I received a call from them at 7:45am that morning (they saw they had a missed call from me). They were able to send Jeff to my house in a little under two hours to fix the sewage clog. Unfortunately the next day the sewage was draining slow. I didn't want to have them back yet before I troubleshot the problem, but Jeff called me every day to see how it was going and offer any advice. Finally after three days of troubleshooting with no positive results I was talking to Jeff on the phone and he told me he'd be over in five minutes. He came with another guy, Scott, and this time they used a bigger bit and opened the manhole cover to make sure they pushed through the clog and it was properly fixed. I marked them down to a B because it wasn't fully fixed the first time, but their professionalism, responsiveness, caring, and the fact they didn't charge me for the second visit was enough to make me a return customer! On a separate note, I had their mold inspector over to check out a foul smelling bedroom. He checked out my bedroom and told me I had absolutely nothing to worry about. I asked if I should have it checked for mold just in case but he said there was no need. I appreciate his honesty considering he could have easily just ran a test and charged me (there was no charge for the visit). It's wonderful to find an honest business these days!

They showed up on time and did the work well. The people doing the work were very courteous and tried their best to keep the mess to a minimum. When the tenant damaged a ceiling tile after the installation, they came back and repaired it at no charge. These are great people!
