This review is in the long time making you know what said, if you want it bad enough you'll wait. If there was a 10 star rating for roofers Top Shelf Roofing would get it! They are that good Shawn at Top Shelf I've been dealing with me for almost two years he'd seen me at my best and my worst and he patiently waited. He did such a good job on my roof and explain it to me in such a way he has a teacher's heart, I know how to deal with the insurance companies now, I know how to deal with roofers now I know what and who to look for now for just about every project! I allowed him to take over the rest of the project on the rehab of a house I was doing.... And I am certain that it would not have been a success had I not chose top shelf at least not a big success! He showed me how to keep projects in budget he showed me or product wasn't needed and where it was needed he showed me the codes for my Town! He was completely transparent you asked him a question and he told you exactly why he was doing what he was doing he didn't do it until I talk to you. Very professional. And the quality of the roof could never been matched had I gone another way! I cannot say enough in this review about the success that he created! an amazing person, he definitely deserves all the credit. if you ever choose to start a business wrap it in the ethics the Top Thelf is wrapped in.

New roof looks really good

The work went well. Shawn was able to squeeze me into his packed schedule in peak season to ensure that my roof was done in time to close on my house. He also identified several issues with ventilation from the previous vinyl siding installation. He helped get those issues corrected to prevent pre-mature wear on the new roof. Shawn and his crew were very professional. Every time any small piece of the contract needed to change, even if it was at no expense to me, he talked to me about what he wanted to do and why and got approval ahead of time. I have already recommended Shawn to my sister for a home she is going to purchase and I will definitely use him when needed at my new house.

About two years ago we made a claim for hail damage to our roof. I'm a retired industrial contractor... so after careful due diligence my wife and I signed a contract with a local, licensed roofing company with great reviews and no complaints. When we were required to make a substantial down payment in order to be put on their schedule, we didn't give it a second thought. But after the start date kept getting pushed back for well over a year, we started to realize we had made a very expensive mistake! With only two months left to replace our roof and receive the hold back money from State Farm, we fortunately found Top Shelf Roofing. 

The owner instantly got involved, took charge of the situation and got the project underway almost immediately. Top Shelf worked with the claims department to make certain our settlement was for a "like kind and quality" roof. We now realize several existing flashings, specialized shingles on the peaks and additional damaged gutters were not listed on our claim. Their project manager took several photographs to document all the missed items, and forwarded them to State Farm on our behalf.

The initial adjuster's estimate was $11,600... But after several "revisions", the agreed replacement price was over $15,000! We cannot stress enough that without the guidance and attention to detail that Top Shelf provided, we would have ended up with a low quality roof with old, rusted flashings likely to be problematic in the near future.

My wife and I are absolutely thrilled with our new roof! After inspecting our attic, Top Shelf opted to correct and change our attic ventilation from a slew of box vents to a baffled ridgevent, thereby exceeding the current minimum code requirements adopted by Shawnee KS. Our roof is now the best looking roof on the block! And their clean up was impeccable, our yard is cleaner than before they started.

Top Shelf bailed us out of a jam, did a beautiful job on a fast tracked schedule, and we cannot be more pleased with the entire process. We can honestly give them our highest recommendation, and suggest anyone needing a roof or gutters look no further. They are true to their name: Top Shelf in every aspect!

This was our first time with such a claim/project and Shawn was a pleasure to work with. He explained the process and gracefully walked us through the entire project including paperwork and selecting the right materials. And it was EXACTLY as he said. Not pushy in the slightest. He respected our material decisions, discussed the benefits and cons and he was extremely knowledgeable about shingle types/ moisture barriers, underlays, etc. His team was punctual, polite and respectful. One thing to note- he ALWAYS took the time to answer our questions professionally even on Sunday's and also even after the project was complete. He made the process easy as could be. I also couldn't be more pleased with the work -even the clean-up- never even found one piece of shingle or nail around the house! His gutter team even fixed/re routed some downspouts for cosmetic purposes based on our input and did so with a smile. I just happened to be home for lunch when the gutter replacements were taking place and as I was leaving I said 'looks great and thanks' and his worker stopped what he was doing, looked at me and responded with 'thank you for the work and for choosing us'.... I really appreciated that and that's why I would choose them again... Personal attention, gratitude and great communication.

I called Shawn at Top Shelf Roofing yesterday afternoon because I noticed some water stains on my upstairs bathroom ceiling after the last rain we had. He was at my house less than 15 minutes later and inspected the roof and found the problem spots. I was concerned about the rain that was coming, so he made a call to one of his guys and had him add me to the end of his busy schedule for the day. He rushed back out to my house with the required parts so that the repairs would be made before the rain started last night. Shawn was very friendly and professional and extremely fast in coming out to my house and scheduling work to be done. In my experience, this kind of service is rare. I strongly recommend Top Shelf Roofing and am very pleased with every aspect of this transaction!

Did what they said and charged what they said.

Shawn's customer service blew us away! Very attentive and responded to every question, concern and issue quickly. He coordinated everything that had to do with our insurance claim and followed up after every contractor completed their task. I would hands down pass on his name to anyone needing his services.

Shawn (Top Shelf Roofing) was as good as neighbors told us....maybe even better! After hail storm, Shawn came and gave us bids for damages. He was very thorough and worked well with insurance adjusters/company. Shawn found some damage we were not aware of--we always felt he had our best interests in mind! Shawn coordinated all the different contractors. All contractors were professional, knowledgable, and clean. All work was done as promised. We felt all work was completed on time and done professionally....very pleased with the quality! Shawn was very responsive. Anytime we called him, he either answered or called us right back. His attention to detail is a great quality for someone in this line of work. We would not hesitate to have Shawn do more work for us. His network of subcontractors was very impressive. Shawn and his crews had performed most of the roof replacements on my block - the hail storm was big and totaled most of the roofs in my neighborhood. My neighbors gave him excellent reviews, and their roofs looked great, so we interviewed him for our job. He was able to accommodate our work schedule to meet with us, and the meeting was very informative. He insisted on using only the top quality products (Class 4 Impact Resistant materials, synthetic Tiger Paw underlayment) and techniques (installing ridge vents, closed valleys, EZ ridge high profile ridges), and he took care of most of the paperwork with the insurance company. We only had to cover our deductible (the insurance company paid us first for the initial estimate, which we turned around and paid to Shawn).
His crew arrived when he said they would, and they got the work done in the estimated amount of time (3 days). There were several touch-up items over the next few weeks that Shawn was very attentive to (resetting the lightning rods, replacing gutters, paint touch-ups, other minor works). The fact that the touch-ups took weeks did not bother us because we weren't in a hurry, and we trusted that the work would get done (which it always did).
Shawn is a wonderful contractor to work with, and the whole experience was a breeze for us. He clearly cares about the final product and keeping his customers happy.
