I am not sure if the electrician noted this to you, but part of the challenge was locating a sub-panel feeding the garage, and then he found there was 240 volts going to the garage, but was not being utilized, which was unexpected. If it would be of help, in the future, I can have the electrician give an estimate before starting a job and then inform you as he is working if the price may be more of less.
