Karen is a great trainer who takes the time to get to know your dog’s needs, personality, and challenges. Her advice is always helpful and she is very adaptable!

The in- home consultation and individualized behavior management plan are by far more effective than training books or generalized group training. My dog was able to have his specific needs adrdress with consideration given to his environment and personality. Karen explained and demonstrated each technique which made the process much more understandable for myself and my dog! Professional, compassionate and patient instruction for both pet and owner.

After just one session with Karen, I was amazed at the difference in my dog. My dog had become hyper-alert to any noise, person, dog or whatever, since we moved to a new house six months ago. She's constantly flooding with adrenaline and cortisol. Karen helped us to see how stressed she was, and she gave us great tools to use to calm things down (reducing stressors, teaching the dog to calm herself, mental exercises, exercise, diet, good advice all around). My dog is alreadier friendlier with people, less fearful of other dogs, and more relaxed at home and when out and about.

We were having behavioral issues with a 4 month old puppy. He wasn't responding to traditional training techniques. Karen helped us understand that he was "hyper aroused" at times and taught us techniques for helping manage that. Very helpful.

I am so very pleased with Karen Dicostanzo, she is absolutely amazing!!! She immediately knew what was causing my dog to attack my other dog. She also determined that both my dogs had issues!! She definitely is a dog "whisperer" !!! My dogs absolutely love her!!! She came to my house every week and worked with me to change the bad habits I had allowed my dogs to have! I have run a Labrador rescue for 30+ years and also own a Pet Lodge. Karen has a calm positive energy and she transfers it well to the dogs she is working with. I asked Karen to assist with training a leash reactive dog that we currently have in rescue. He is responding extremely well (he's a star) with her ideas to change most of his past training with new methods and tools. Karen is outstanding. Her knowledge and willingness to share resources is amazing. Our puppy is doing great and we are learning to be the best dog parents we can be! We started him in training at 8 weeks and are so happy we did. She taught us how to form a real bond with him. We finished a 6 week one training and have signed up for another series.

Karen taught me how teach Summer to go to her mat whenever feels anxious. So now when someone comes to visit she finds a mat and stays there. She may still grumble a bit but it's an amazing improvement from what she used to do. Karen also taught Summer to ring a doorbell made just for dogs. It's so much fun for me when I hear the doorbell ring and there's Summer standing there looking up at me. Another fun thing she taught me is how to read what Summer is saying to me. One example is when I see Summer blinking a slow blink she is telling me to relax that it's not so bad. Blinking is a dog language that tells each other to chill, to keep calm, your giving me anxiety so please stop. I never new so much about dogs until I met Karen. It's really cool that there are other ways of dog training besides the old less successful ways. It's interesting because science shows that positive training is more effective than traditional methods of dog training because dogs learn faster with positive techniques. Karens knowledge of dogs is vast because she understands the canine mental process behind the their behavior. Karen is so sweet! My Boxer, Summer, gets so excited every time she comes through the door and we just absolutely adore her.
