John was very timely and had everything installed in 2 days. He would have done in one day but had to wait for the rain to stop so he could finish installing the air conditioner. Easy going guy. Really like the Reme-Halo air purification he suggested and installed. My allergies have almost disappeared. I have used him for years. He returns calls promptly and has always been on time.

Last summer on one of the hottest days of the year my A/C quits working. This is on the same day my 95 year old mother in law is coming to visit us. Talk about bad timing. I had previously used (about 3 years ago) a larger commercial contractor to work on my unit, they had told me the Johnson Controller needed replacement which was a $750 part. I always felt like I kind of got ripped off, it costs me $175 just for them to show up. Anyway about year and a half ago I was referred to Home Comfort by a friend. I really like the fact that the guy doing the work is the guy running the business. Anyway I get ahold of John at Home Comfort and he says he can stop by later in the day. I’m expecting the worse but John troubleshoots that my condenser has a bad capacitor. It was quick $100 fix and the A/C was back on. I can’t say too many good things about this company, they are prompt, professional, trustworthy and they have very reasonable costs. My unit is now almost 24 years old and I’m probably going to have to replace the entire unit soon. I know I’m going to be calling Hime Comfort.

The big reason for the "F" rating is they did not use the clips to close the furnace cover, but instead drilled two holes and put two screws in the top front to hold the top furnace cover in place.  They did this because they broke one of the cover clips.  About two weeks prior I personally changed the furnace filter and had no problem with closing the front using the clips.  Now whenever the furnace filter has to be changed, I need to use a screw driver to unscrew the screws to take off the cover and screw them back again to attach the cover.  I was very disappointed in this.   I felt they were also not honest because they did not call me to tell me what happened.  I had to find out three months later on my next trip over to the condo and discovered what they did.

"Our customer was disappointed with us using screws to hold the top pannel in place rather than the existing plastic clips. I will explain why this was done. The plastic clips were used on essentially only 1 brand of furnace approximately for a time frame of 15 to 12 years ago. These clips proved to be a very poor design and material for their intended purpose and the manufacturer discontinued their use. These clips were very easily broken when they were new let alone 15 to 20 years later. Almost without exception when we come to service one of these furnaces the clips are already broken and homeowners have resorted to using tape of some kind to hold the pannel in place. Whenever a contractor has worked on the unit with broken clips they have almost always screwed the pannel in place with screws. The plastic clips cannot be purchased therefore, we used screwes to hold the pannel in place rather than taping it. It just seemed more professional than taping the pannel. I think any rational customer would agree. I am very disappointed to have a customer so upset about something so trivial."

Our a/c unit began shutting down without any apparent cause. John came out on a service call and determined that a pressure switch was the reason for the shut down but really couldn't determine why. Normally when the freon gets low, the pressure increases and to protect the compressor, the pressure switch will turn the unit off. But my unit was not critically low on freon. John asked me whether I wanted him to 'top off' the unit with freon and see what happens. I agreed and an addition pound and half of freon gas was added. The unit was turned back on and everything seemed to be working okay. Only a few hours later, the same problem started up again. I called John and he said he would be out first thing in the morning. He arrived just after 8 am and started to once again investigate the problem. This time he found that the drain tubing from the unit was clogged and water was actually dripping down onto the electronic panel board and shorting it out. Open the drain, problem fixed! John was very courteous and knowledgeable. Even though he worked on the unit for well over an hour, he did not charge me for the second visit. I will continue to use John and Home Comfort for my heating/cooling needs

John had previously done some patch up work on this old A/C system at a duplex that we own, but in June the system called it quits for good.  John had the best price on a replacement Rheem system and he was able to get to us within two days of the call, which was great because the heat wave was just about to start.  John determined that the system being replaced was the original, which dates to 1971.  The condenser coil John replaced looked like something that came up from the Titanic.  I guess 40 years is a good stretch for an A/C system. 

He showed up on time and performed the installation within about a three hour period.   The significant thing is what happened the next day:  My tenant called to say the unit was not cooling.  John came back within a couple of hours of the call and determined that the control valve inside the brand new condenser coil was defective.  By now it was 6PM and the supplier was closed.  John was able to get the owner of the wholesale supplier to open up so that he could get the needed replacement part and he had the unit back up and running within another hour.  THAT was above & beyond

The new system has not missed a beat since.  I will keep using Home Comfort and continue to recommend John Field to anyone within his service area.  Great service with integrity.  A rare combo in this area.

I called John Field once again when the 28 year-old furnace in our home called it quits.  He made an accurate assessment that spending $600 to fix it was not advisable and gave me a good price on a new American Standard high efficiency (95%) furnace.  He delivered and installed it in half a day's time and also arranged to have the old furnace hauled away.  A very professional job.  I would recommend him highly.

I called and they were able to come out first thing the next day. They would have come the same day, but I told them to wait until the next day. The experience was excellent. The AC began working when he showed up but he checked everything over for me. He showed up right when he was supposed to.
