BICKIMER HOMES

My experience with Bickimer homes overall was unsatisfactory/poor. Prior to closing Tommy was very responsive and attentive. After closing, customer service changed dramatically. After being in the home for a month it was uncovered that all cabinets had a manufacturing defect in the cabinet finish throughout the entire home. I will say I have not seen the issue in other Bickimer homes. The cabinets will chip and flake even if a pencil is dropped from 6-8 inches. And this is with all cabinets within the home other than the "white" cabinets in the childrens bathroom and the laundry room. Bickimer employees looked at the cabinets and other than the supervisor agreed there was a problem with the cabinets that was caused either by how the finish was applied or with the material used. I also hired 2 reputable cabinet companies to review the cabinets which agreed the cabinets had been finished improperly. Tommy responded via email they would not fix the cabinets and that they have done all that they will do. A bickimer employee even stated that to get the necessary work done I would probably have to take legal action and added "you will win". I will say we did not pursue legal action which I regret to an extent. I am happy to let others review the workmanship and post-closing conversations' if you are trying to make a decision on your builder. I've included some photos that were taken 3 months after moving into the home. This is our 3rd home and I've never had poor workmanship from previous builders nor the unwillingness to make things right after closing as I did from Tommy Bickimer.

Customer service prior to closing was excellent.  Customer service after closing was not to my satisfaction.  Cabinets throughout home are chipping and I was told by their own subcontractor that the finish was done incorrectly.  Tommy sent out someone to cover several marks which look like they where covered with dabs of paint which if I could post pictures on this site I would for others to see.  Tommy would not come look at the cabinets himself claiming "I'm too busy".  Final communication from Tommy is "I'm sorry that you aren't happy, we've done all we are going to do".  I will be happy to let any potential buyers look at the cabinets throughout the home and make their own judgements.  I am also willing to share video and pictures of cabinets showing the chipping and how even tapping the finish sharply with your fingernail, or dropping a dime from less than 12 inches causes the finish to chip clear down to the wood itself.  Owning 4 homes over the course of the past 20 years and I've never seen a finish on cabinets as poor as this.  I would recommend of the shelf cabinets from any major home store over the craftsmanship/finish that was performed, and refused to correct, by Tommy Bickimer.
