Save yourself time and frustration and use someone else.  The finished product is lovely, but what should have been a 2 week process turned into a two month ordeal.  The salesman, while very kind, oversold and under delivered at every step of the way and the company sold me product they could not deliver in the time frame given on multiple occasions.  It is a family owned company, and based on reviews and my desire to support a local family, we chose them....unfortunately, I had to talk with nearly every member of the family to get the job done!!! And in every family-if you need something done....go right to momma. Barbara was one person that called when she said she would.  My only hope is that my floors outlive my distaste for Acme's business practices.

Installation supervision was not our responsibility, but our contractor used Acme routinely.  We were pleased with the outcome.  The floors have held up beautifully.  We had them recoated in 2014 by another provider who was very complimentary of the initial install.

I was completely disappointed in the product and service of Acme floors.  They installed the wood floors in my new home.  First, the wood installed was not what I picked out, but they stained over it anyway.   Within weeks of moving in, there were white areas that appeared on the floor and they would not not wash up.  It turned out to be something that was spilled on the wood and instead of cleaning it, Acme stained and finished over it, so it was permanently in the finish and just took time to rise to the top.  To properly fix it would require sanding it down through the finish and stain and re-doing it.  Acme wanted to do these 4 areas only which would be impossible to match the area around it.  There were many areas where the stain color had circular darkened spots.  I'm told this was because the people staining left a rag sitting on the wood.  Within 2 months the floor was scratched and 2 large areas where the color changed before our eyes.  I had six independent flooring companies come in and look at it and all six told me the same thing, the stain was done over dirty wood, the stain was not always mixed before applying causing the stain to be different colors throughout and finally they said only one coat of finish was applied.  All 6 told me the only way to properly fix it would be to sand it and start again.  We had Acme come out 3 times and shared all this information with them, but the only thing they were willing to do was fix each SPOT separately.  This was not a solution for several reasons:  1.  This did not fix the large areas fading/discoloration.  They told us that it was due to the sun, even though it faded within the first month of moving in.  Other contractors said it was due to lack of finishing product to protect it.  2.  This did not fix the lack of finishing product being applied which allowed it to scratch VERY easily as well as fade.  3.  If they did "spot" fixing, it would be impossible to match the color around it and there are so many bad spots it would be like poke dot coloring.  4.  Acme uses a finishing product called Glitsa which has such a bad reputation for causing cancer, most floor finishers won't allow their workers to use it.  Why would I want such a harsh product around my family?
I was disappointed in the quality of product Acme used, the workmanship was sub-par, especially in a brand new home, but the most disappointed part was that they were unwilling to do what it took to make it right.  To fix it they would not do the right thing despite what the paying customer wanted and what 6 other contractors said would be the right thing.  I can understand mistakes being made, but I cannot understand a company that won't stand behind their work and do the right thing!  I cannot begin to express how bad we feel this company is from bottom to top!  It was a horrible, horrible experience for us and I would never, EVER use Acme again!

The repair which could have been stressful was made easier by the dust being kept to a minimum and good communication by Acme Floor.  The detail to work and knowledge of what needed to be performed was apparent to us by the work performed. Great job.  We would use Acme Floor again for any wood flooring work.

Overall, the experience was good.  They did what we wanted.  They were quick to come out, and it was acceptable.  The workers were very courteous.  They cleaned up after themselves.

We recently hired Acme to lay a small area of new wood to match the existing wood flooring in our living room. This job was a pain, as they were redoing a bad tile job on an uneven floor done by another contractor. We had used Acme previously on a couple different jobs, this being our third experience with them. Based on a referral, we hired them originally to refinish the wood floors in our home before we moved in a few years ago. On a separate occasion they refinished two bedrooms and laid new floor in a closet. After our first experience, we have not gotten competing estimates because we were so pleased with their work. I am not sure if they are cheapest in town, but based on their work, nor should they be. I refer everyone I know looking for flooring references to Acme, and we receive do many complements on their work.. Everyone we have dealt with there have been so professional, courteous and do such wonderful work that we will not use anyone else. As they say, and I am a firm believer of, you get what you pay for. Whether it was a regular refinish, or a pain in the rear little repair job, they are very responsive and pay a great amount of attention to detail. From Tim, who did the estimate, Ron, who coordinated the repair, to John, who did the work, all of these gentlemen are first class. Update - this project was a repair, so they were charging us for the time spent + materials. A ballpark was given to us at $700. I anticipated this coming in anywhere from $700 - $1000. I received the bill and nearly had a heart attack, it was for $1950. I called them, and they worked with the salesperson to resolve, citing a "mistake" and we settled on $1000. As I recall, the last time they did a repair, the exact same thing happened. A contractor friend and I were talking about this, and he chuckled saying they are notorious for this. I'm not sure if that is true, but it did happen to us a couple times, so might not want to be shy to call and ask them if your bill looks out of whack. Many people probably just pay this although it is errant......

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. THE INITIAL PERSON WHO CAME OUT WAS COMPLETELY INEXPERIENCED. INITIALLY TOLD ME THEY DID STAIRS AND BASEBOARDS AND THE JOB WOULD TAKE 3 DAYS. UPON ARRIVAL ON START DATE, THEY WERE NEARLY 3 HOURS LATE, AND TOLD ME JOB WOULD TAKE 2 WEEKS AND THEY DIDN'T DO STAIRS OR BASEBOARDS. JOB ENDED UP TAKING 3 WEEKS. THEY WERE EXTREMELY DIRTY, AS THEY CLOGGED UP MY AIR CONDITIONER AND MADE A MESS IN MY BATHROOM AS ONE OF WORKERS WAS SICK. I HAD TO CONTRACT ADDITIONAL WORK OUT TO FIX AIR CONDITIONER AND DO STAIRS, WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR AS WELL. THEIR DAYS WERE SHORT - ARRIVED AT 10, TOOK 1 HOUR LUNCH AT 11, AND LEFT AT 3:30. THEY SWEPT ALL OF THEIR LEFTOVER NAILS INTO MY BACKYARD AND PORCH. THE SEAL THEY APPLIED LEAKED INTO AIR CONDITION AND STUNK UP MY HOUSE. TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OKAY TO STAY IN HOUSE, EVEN THOSE SEALANT WAS EXTREMELY STRONG. IT BURNED MY DAUGHTER'S AND MY EYES AND WE WERE FORCED TO STAY A NIGHT AT MY MOTHER'S HOUSE. RARELY RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS.

"RYAN SPILLMAN SALES REP INITIALLY SPOKE WITH THE MEMBER. HIS EXPERIENCE CONSISTS OF INSTALLING AND FINISHING FOR 7 YEARS AND SALES FOR 3 YEARS. THE ESTIMATE WAS TO REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF EXISTING CARPET, PAD, AND TAC STRIP IN THE LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM, AND THREE BEDROOMS AND CLOSETS. WE INSTALLED AND FINISHED 2 ¼” WHITE OAK FLOORING. WE ALSO INSTALLED NEW BASE SHOE WHICH WAS AGREED UPON IN A SIGNED CONTRACT. WE DID NOT GIVE THE MEMBER A BID TO INSTALL STAIR TREADS OR NEW BASE. ACME FLOOR DOES NOT INSTALL STAIR TREADS, WE FINISH EXISTING TREADS ONLY. WOOD BASE IS NOT A STANDARD INSTALL FOR US. NORMALLY A TRIM CARPENTER WILL DO THAT. WE SUPPLIED THE MEMBER A NAME OF A TRIM CARPENTER THAT ACME HAS RECOMMENDED FOR YEARS. SOME OF THE 2 WEEK TIME PERIOD HAD TO DO WITH THE STAIR TREADS. WE WERE LATE, DUE TO THE CREW FINISHING A CUSTOMER FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PINPOINT EXACTLY THE TIME THE CREW WILL ARRIVE. WE HUNG PLASTIC IN DOORWAYS AND OVER CABINETS, TO TRY TO MINIMIZE THE DUST, BUT SANDING WILL BE DUSTY AND CLEAN UP IS NOT INCLUDED, AS MENTIONED ON THE CONTRACT. NORMALLY THE FUMES WILL BECOME MANAGABLE WITH IN 8HRS. WE FEEL WE HAVE COMPENSATED THE MEMBER BY NOT CHARGING HER TO INSTALL BASEBOARDS ($350.00) AND SANDING AND FINISHING OF STAIR TREADS ($1,000.00) NONE OF WHICH WAS CONTRACTED TO DO. ACME FLOOR CO., INC. HAS BEEN IN THE BUSINESS SINCE 1926 AND HAS THOUSANDS OF SATISFIED CUSTOMERS. DONALD UBER, VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES, ACME FLOOR CO."
