Preferred Contracting Systems

We had a large list of things that needed to be done leading with the roof replacement and included windows, siding and insulation.  Steve Cassady and Preferred Contracting Systems were the only ones that were willing to let me tell them what I wanted done.  The other three bidders were selling package deals that forced me into only what they wanted.  Example:  I needed just half of the back resided with Hardie Board, but I wanted to pull off the old siding insulate and then reside.  The others wanted to just wrap and add new siding.....one off the would only do it with prepainted siding that would not match the house but painting would void their warranty.
 In the end, we broke the project into pieces, but we expect to use Preferred for each phase.

They were wonderful and did a great job. They were very nice and completely trustworthy. I could leave and totally trust him. They were very timely and they just wanted to make sure that everything was done exactly as I wanted it. The owner of the company even came by at one point just to say hello and to introduce himself. They were really good and I was actually surprised when the owner showed up. Part of the work was covered by my insurance because it was an accident. I kind of flooded my bathtub, but I had to pay the difference and their price was excellent.They also do complete remodeling and everything.

I used Preferred Contracting Systems for cleaning my carpet. This guy was perfect in every way, the quality of his work, his very reasonable price, his topnotch equipment. I use them all the time.

We had water damage from a leaking washer machine. Preferred was called in to do the dryout. They sent someone within the same hour after we reported the damage to insurance and they started on the mitigation immediately and it was done quickly and well. The repairs were scheduled with some intervals, but they were all done very well, especially the hardwood floor laying and finishing. Ceiling repair was also done very well, looks like new. Unaffected areas of the home were well protected during all repairs.

I had several questions during the process but the questions could not get answered because they did not have anyone on site that could speak english. They got in a hurry and left a part of the roof unfinished. The ridge gap shingles were defective and had to be replaced. They attempted to hold on to an insurance payment that was to go to myself for work that they did not do. All I know is that I will never use them again.

The work well good, perhaps a little rushed, but we're happy with the results. Would use again.

At first there was a misunderstanding about when the work was to start. After I talked to the office and stressed that we were under a time crunch (I work nights and needed the work completed during my time off), Mike Knoder and his helper Pat went above and beyond to make me happy. They even came out twice to get the fan wired correctly. And the ceiling looks great!

The estimator did not manage my expectations very well. I was mislead on a few scheduling issues and he did not do an adequate/accurate estimate for the scope of work. As an example; I was charged $357 for an electrician who was not needed and was never on site. Another issue was an unexpected up charge for new ceiling materials. New materials needed were discussed with the estimator at our first meeting and was covered in my Owner's Addendum to the Contracting Agreement. Even though the contractor agreed to this addendum, he still demanded additional costs for new materials after starting work. One should expect damaged ceiling grid in a total failure of the system and it was obvious when the damage assessment was made. On the flip side, everyone from the receptionist, to scheduler, to carpenter was very courteous and responsive. The Estimator was quite friendly and easy to talk to. The carpenter went out of his way to protect our furnishings and to complete little details. After the job was complete, the contractor called to check on my satisfaction. I would use this contractor again, because they did provide better than average customer service and quality workmanship. However, I would scrutinize their take-offs and ask lots of questions about the estimate and schedule up front.

They did a good job. It took quite awhile to get all of the various aspects of the job contracted out and finished. In the end, I was very pleased with the quality of their work. When it became apparent that the insurance settlement was not going to cover the total repair cost, Preferred Contracting proactively worked with the State Farm adjuster to increase the amount of the settlement. After my deductible, my out of pocket cost was $0. They brought the job in for the exact amount of their estimate.
