Until the end of July, we had only one cat in our household, whom was always cared for by our neighbors when we were away. At the end of July we took in another cat and the integration process has been ongoing since. With this integration going on, we knew we would need more dedicated and extensive care than what our resident cat would normally receive while we were away for 4 days over the Labor Day weekend.
Carol came to our home prior to our vacation time to meet us and the cats. She explained what she would do, when she would do it, filled out her fact sheet, picked up a key, phone numbers, vet information and other information that might be relevant or helpful. She tried to meet both the cats that day and I did pick up our resident cat from one of her usual resting places and when I set her down she did not scamper off at the sight/scent of Carol. Given that our resident cat is very shy and it takes her a long time to warm up to people, I was surprised she did not run off.
Carol sent a text message the first day she came by to take care of our cats to let us know how things were going. By day 3, my resident cat was allowing Carol to hold her. This is the cat that my neighbors know exists only because the food dish was always empty between feedings, and they see her in the window on occasion, not because they saw her when they cared for her.
When we returned from our trip, both cats seemed none the worse for wear and according to the notes and 'report card' Carol left us, the cats did well with her.
Second use-
Since it went so well the first time around, we decided to ask Carol to come in for a lunch time visit for three days while I was away visiting grandkids and my husband was home alone. We thought it would be nice to have someone in for a midday visit so the cats would feel less lonely.
This time around it was even better. Both cats played with her and my resident cat paid her the ultimate compliment by using her shoes as a scratching post-which she only does with people she is inviting into her world.
I would highly recommend Carol's pet sitting services.
