A racoon tore out our gable vent on the side of house last year. I have since tried replacing it with standard size vents from the store but have not been able to find the correct size. Figured it was a custom vent and would need someone to fabricate a vent from scratch. In the meantime I've adhered a piece of plywood from the inside in the attic to keep out animals.
I searched siding services near our house and Wempe Bros was very close. I called on 5/29/12 and talked to a gentleman who took my name, number and address and said he would swing by to take a look and call me back.
I waited about a week and hadn't heard back from him. On 6/8/12 I called the number again and got voicemail. Left a message with my name, number, address and a reminder about my gable vent project. Waited another week and still never heard back.
Today is 6/19/12 and I've started calling other outfits this morning, one of which was (1) at lunch when I called, (2) still took my info, (3) said he'd swing by and look on his way back to the current job site after lunch, and (4) he had already called back with an estimate not even an hour after my first call.

Excellent. In October I called about getting an estimate, and the final cost was exactly the estimate. At that time they thought the work would get done in January. They ended up starting in March. They were thorough and attentive to detail. One morning they discovered some siding they put up the day before had been chewed through by a raccoon. They put a metal plate behind it and replaced it. They replaced outside lights and house numbers.

They are another excellent company. I would recommend them again. In fact, I have.

The job took longer than originally anticipated due to our house being older and lacking things like square corners and consistent dimensions. This did not change the estimated cost. The owners/employees were very friendly and professional. We've been very happy with the work that was done.
