DO NOT USE!!! SCAM!! Absolutely the worst moving company i have ever used. I move once a year due to my job and this was the worst moving process i have ever had. It started off with US relocation quoting me 725$ for 2 men, a truck and for a 4 hour job. Then 870$ for a 2 man truck, them to pack my boxes and a 4 hour job. I asked about a military discount due to my fiancé being in the military and they said it was already a discounted price and wouldn't be adding anything additional. There was nothing in the contract that said it was discounted they just kept saying it was? The day before they wanted to charge me 900$ for 3 men a truck and 4 hours. They are a third party who hire movers for you (did not know this) It would have been nice to know who they hire before they show up so you know the quality of work you are getting.. They had me pay 180$ deposit and was told the remaining would be paid once the job was done. They movers (starving artist movers) showed up at 10:15 AM with a small truck and two men (in their 20s) The men were very nice, kinda slow.. they had no tools so i had to give them my power tools to take my couch apart. They didn't wrap any of my stuff they just took it down.. I asked if they were going to wrap my mirror or make up vanity they didn't... They didn't have any material for it? They were saying due to how much stuff i had it would take a bit longer. I was confused since I told them EXACTLY how much i had and even sent pictures over to show everything. They were taking so long my fiancé helped them load up all the big and heavy stuff to speed it up. The movers didn't get done packing up their truck till 2:15PM. They weren't able to pack everything up so my fiancé had to load the rest of our stuff into his truck. The two men went on their "lunch break" and i got a call from US relocation stating i owed over 1000$ for the move... I told them no and that they set up their team to fail with showing up not prepared and with not the strongest movers.. Us relocation ANDY was so rude and kept talking over me and cutting me off by far the worst customer service ever. Andy wouldn't stop talking over me and added Craig to the call who was in charge of the two movers. Craig was rude and laughing saying his men were burnt out due to having to move all my "heavy things". My fiancé moved more of the heavy boxes than they did. I told them they needed to fix this and refund me in some way and they refuse to finish the job till I paid them. Craig was threatening to leave all my things on the side of the road and have myself move it. Very unprofessional. He told me that it wasn't their fault since they didn't pack my boxes, he stated "you don't pack large boxes with heavy items you pack large boxes with linens and towels". He was saying that it's not his issue?!?! He also said "how about we get the job done and when we are down you start your own moving company and do it yourself, how about you try moving your heavy boxes up 3 flight of stairs?!?!". I have never had this issue with any moving company before. I stated "Why would you take on this job if it was "too much"". It was the worst job i have ever seen. By the time the 2 men got to my new place 3:45 PM they were unloaded everything and my fiancé had to move all the heaver boxes and furniture up himself since the guys were "SO BURNT OUT". The two men moved most of my bags and my fiancé did most of the rest (should have paid my fiancé). They didn't know how to put my dresser back together so they left it for me to do myself, i found 3 broken off pieces from it that i will have to fix, they also had my fiancé put the couch feet back on since they were too tired at this point in the job. The movers said they would reimburse me for the time i paid for that wasn't used. They ended up charging me 7 hours! I got a call on Sunday from Andy (us relocation) about my reimbursement for the hour not spent, he wasn't able to get into contact with them so he stated he would call again Monday. Today Monday 8/28 I had to call Andy at 1PM to see where my refund was at. He said he spoke with them and it would be refunded right away. He asked how the overall move was i told him how horrible of a job it was and he went on to say i due apologize and email is sent to you about your refund any other questions? I asked him why even bother about asking how it was if they aren't going to fix it and he hung up.I still have no gotten an email from them regarding this or my refund. DON'T SPEND THE MONEY!!
Response from Starving Artists Moving
"There are two sides to every story. Unfortunately, Ms. [Member Name Removed] left out a very important piece of information as to why the move was taking as long as it did. First, the origin was on a the fourth floor with an elevator. This alone will take more time. We can only load so much stuff in the elevator and take it down to load the truck. More than likely there is a long walk from the truck to the elevator and then from the elevator to the apartment. Then at the unload, we have to go up three flights of stairs. It’s on the third floor! Again, long walk from the truck to the apartment! Just two men. Having 3 men, like I suggested, would have been much more efficient. Ms. [Member Name Removed] even says once her fiancé helped they get done faster. I spoke with the crew manager and the fiancé handled all the small Knick knack items. Our crew moved all the furniture except for one small piece. As for replacing the feet onto the sofa, again, the fiancé said he’d do it later for the guys not to worry about it. One other thing, Ms. [Member Name Removed] wasn’t even at the move for most of the day. When I spoke to her, she was at work. I will apologize for being frustrated. I did say that we should leave her items at the unload. But, its just that we recommend things, like having a 3 man crew and the customer wants to save money. Or they have an idea that the job should only take a certain amount of time and it doesn’t. Then they get upset and complain about every little thing and demand a refund. And yes, I did tell her about packing boxes, You don’t put all your items into large or medium boxes that weigh upwards of 50 or more pounds. It’s too much for one person to carry three flights of stairs 10-20 times. That is setting people up to fail!"

Three guys and they were extremely slow. The lead guy kept using the bathroom in my old place and the new. He never washed his hands (I never heard the water faucet.) They damaged items a bent lamp pole, items were dirty and they damaged a jewelry armoire. Almost a month later and I’m still waiting on what will be a $40 refund. Two of the guys looked like they just came off a party hangover.

We have used this company twice in the past 18 months and would give them more stars if it were possible!! They were professional, prompt, careful, pleasant and polite, and very reasonably priced ... the best company we have used in our lifetime, and we have moved maybe 10 times total. We had such a good experience with them on a local move about 18 months ago, and even though they are primarily advertised as a local mover, we contacted them to see if there was any chance we could get them for our long distance move. To our delight they said yes! We got Jordan, whom we knew from before, and Joe, who was new to us. They were AWESOME! They drove from Lawrence to San Diego to pick up all our household goods, and delivered them safely to Lawrence a few days later. One thing we appreciated most during this very stressful time was that we didn't have to worry at all about our movers and the safety of our "stuff"! That left us free to fret about all the other things that accompany a home sale and a cross country move! THEY'RE THE BEST!!!

Quoted 4 - 5 hours. Which should have been correct. 3 movers showed up. Truck was having issues with lift gate when they got there. But found out later that the clock had already started while they were working on the lift. They milked the move out to 7 hours and would have been longer if my husband and I had not jumped in and started moving items to the truck for them to load. Found them on their phones several times just standing in the back of the truck. Contacted manager about the disappointment of the service that was received and how we had to move items also. Was assured he would be calling me later that day. 2 weeks later have not heard anything. Would not recommend them to anyone to use. On a good note. Had a spinet piano that they moved. They were very careful and did a good job with it. Hind sight..Maybe just hired them for piano move.

The two young men showed up promptly and moved all of the items with extreme care. Nothing gouged or scratched. The logistics were challenging, with narrow doorways and a tight staircase, but all went smoothly. We phoned at the last minute and they were able to schedule us within two days. Flat hourly rate made it easy to know what the cost would be; no surprise extras. Very pleased!

They were hard-working, professional and very careful with our furniture. Nothing was damaged and their rates were quite reasonable. We would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a locally owned moving company. We liked that they charge an hourly rate, no surprises in the fee.

We underestimated how long it would take due to not having everything packed but the 2 movers were great. The price overage just got to be too much and we had to let them go before the work was complete. I would definitely hire this company again.

"[Member Name Removed], Thanks you for using our services. I know guessing how many boxes one will ultimately have is hard to determine. It is for most customers. We do our best to assist. Thanks again for the review. Best of luck to you and your husband. Starving Artists Moving."

The experience was TERRIBLE! The movers were 2.5 hours late to begin with and we were their 3rd move of the day, so they had to call out an additional helper at our cost. Our original estimate was for $600.00, in the end it cost of $1000.00 dollars and they left 1/3 off our belongings in the Town House we were moving out of. They damaged the door of the refrigerator, tore holes in our sofa and scuffed the wood on our bedroom and formal dining room furniture. This was an awful experience and I contacted the owned the next day to only get NO Reply!
In the end I ended up borrowing a friends truck and worked throughout the night to get the rest of our belongings out of the town house prior to the next morning walk through/exit .....
Response from Starving Artists Moving
"In this case, the customer evidently did not provide a full list of items to be taken and there were several stairs. These things, of course, slowed us down. Unfortunately, we were late to the move because of a previous customer's move, which turned out to be longer than anticipated, due to a series of circumstances upon which we had not planned. As far as the damages are concerned, the owners of the company were never notified and, therefore, unable to respond to these claims. Rarely, do we ever hear about damages such as these, so we are puzzled and very apologetic that we could not remedy problems not reported within the allowed disclosure period."

It was a really good experience.  They were very professional, polite, and friendly.  They called us around the anticipated time that we have scheduled.  They called us a little bit earlier to let us know they were on their way.  They came on time.  They just kind of work efficiently.  They asked good questions about where we wanted to have the furniture.  They put the furniture back together after they delivered it.

These guys are great.  Movers were on time and worked very hard to meet the promised time frame.  No loss or damage.

It has been a long time since I have seen four guys work as hard as they did for our move.  They hardly took a break and kept moving......literally!

Highly recommended.

The movers were a few hours late but seemingly due to a truck breakdown.  Once they got to the house they were very nice and quick.  They delivered the stuff the next and put everything where it needed to go.  They even helped move a that was already at the new house refrigerator to the basement.
Response from Starving Artists Moving
"We are so glad that you had a good experience overall with our company. And we thank you for being understanding about the truck breakdown, Unfortunately, the moving trucks are always a concern, even though we keep them well-maintained. The day of your move, all of our other trucks were busy and it took some time to repair your truck to get it rolling. Once there, though, I am delighted that our workers went the extra mile for you. That is what we expect. Thank you for letting us know that is what you received."
