Auto Service
My 1994 Honda started overheating so I brought it to Sharp's Automotive on a Friday afternoon. They told me Monday the water pump needed replaced, it would cost approximately $250-$300, and I could pick it up on Wednesday. They didn't call on Wednesday so I ended up calling them about 5pm. They tell me that they replaced the timing belts while they were in there and now the car won't start. They think it's the distributor cap and say they can get a new one installed tomorrow (Thurs). I pickup the car Thursday and the bill is $830!!! WOW what a bait and switch. My check engine light comes on the next day so I take it back in. The "NEW" distributor cap was faulty (sounds like they don't know how to work on distributor caps). I get another distributor cap and my car works fine for a few days then smoke starts billowing from the hood. I talk to the mechanic who says bring it back in. They fix it the next day. Again I don't receive a call (I left my # each time) and I have to call them close to the end of the day. They tell me they replaced two radiator hoses and it'll be another $130. I COULD HAVE REPLACED THE HOSES MYSELF FOR $45!!! They didn't call before they replaced them and I was an idiot to pay the $130 but I thought they wouldn't charge me or only charge me for parts since it was related to the original problem of overheating. A week and a half later my car overheats again and when i lift the hood, one of the hoses they replaced has a 1 inch hole in it. My car is in the shop again. I let them know I don't want to spend any more money on it and that I'd like them to fix the problem that they've charged me close to a $1,000 for. I'll probably call them at the end of today and find out that they've performed a liver transplant and I owe them a couple hundred thousand. Pros: Usually quick turnaround time. Cons: They cause more problems before they fix your original problem, they have to fix everything twice, poor communication.
