Our 4+ yr. old Samsung 46 inch HD TV had lost power completely after having periodic problems with the picture. We called Servitronics and verified that they had time to work on the set. The diagnosis charge was to $60. We made the 35 mile trip to deliver the set to the shop. We called a few days later and were told that they hadn't been able to get to our set yet, but should be able to in the next day or two. We got a call a couple of days later stating that the main circuit board needed to be replaced and that part needed to be ordered from Samsung. The repair estimate total was $300, which included about $200 for the part and the $60 feed we paid up front. Several days later we received a call that the part was in, but that it did not fix the problem. Allen said something about his diagnostic equipment not working quite right to explain that misdiagnosis. Instead he had found that it needed a "T-Con Circuit," which was no longer available from Samsung. Allen advised that any further attempt to find the needed part and repair the TV would be prohibitively expensive. At that point, we said forget it, that we would just get a new TV. We asked Allen if he wanted the set for parts, but he declined. But he did offer to dispose of the TV for us saving us a 70-mile round trip to pick up a dead TV, so we are appreciative of him for that. There was no other charge other than the initial $60 diagnosis charge. We feel that the diagnostic work was done in a timely fashion, that the prices were fair, and that we were treated courteously. The only disappointment was the misdiagnosis of the problem which added a few days to our wait time. However, overall, the experience was good - despite our having to spend much more to get a new TV than to repair the old one which had been working great until this major problem. I would not hesitate to recommend Servitronics for TV repair.

Overall pleasing experience. Initial phone contact was helpful in determining the TV was the problem and not the DVR. Appointment made on Monday and service call on Tuesday. Allen was prompt, knowledgeable and quick to determine the adjustments (mostly to the CRT's) needed. The TV's life is limited but should last plenty long enough to find a replacement before that time comes. Allen was helpful in answering ?'s about which kinds of TV's to look for (re: best makes, features available, etc.). Overall good experience!
Description of Work: Service performed on our 10-12 yr old Sony KP-61HS10 HDTV. Diagnosis performed and adjustments made-primarily to the CRT's. Eliminated the annoying cycling off and on of the picture.
