Also in October 2014, the new metal roof over the screened in porch leaked. We had paid extra money to have ice and water shield installed under the metal roof as additional protection against leaks. When the owner came out to inspect, the ice and water shield had not been installed, so they had to remove and reinstall the roof.
The last and most frustrating issue was July 2015. The roof leaked again and caused significant damage to the ceiling in the living room. I sent pictures to New Era Roofing and asked for help to resolve the situation. No response. I called the insurance adjuster and he contacted the owner of New Era Roofing who was supposed to contact me directly. Again no response. I called the sales person who came out to look and took pictures. They returned with the crew who did the initial install and I was told they did not work on the metal flashing area and therefore, New Era Roofing was not responsible for the leak and damage. I have pictures showing they changed some of the metal and that it was modified during shingle installation.
As a result, we hired another roofing company to come in and "fix" the issues to prevent leaks. We also found out that the roof had no ventilation which will damage the shingles and roof decking. We have added vents at additional cost. We have spent over $2,500 to correct the roofing issues and that does not include the cost of replacing the drywall in the living room.
We waited months for the new roof. We understood extra rainfall and causing delays, but our roof was not done until mid July, 2015, taking two months when the initial response time was to be only two weeks. When the roofing was not done quickly, we did reconsider their promoting of installing larger gutters, which they said caused delays but we later learned this was not the reason for delays.
When the roof was done the workers threw the old shingles all over the ground when a large dumpster was placed under the garage roof for that purpose. Old shingles were thrown off the back of the house (2 story) onto a vintage car, '67 XKE Jaguar that they said they would protect. We have pictures of shingle on top of car and surrounding ground.
The company representative said it would be a while to get back with any gutters or screens for the back porch. We decide then to pay only for the roof and contact another company to do the gutters and screen. This was mid July when the contract was made on April 17.
We did withhold $1000 of the roofing amount due per the construction supervisor as the roofing crew tore up our gutter guards that were to be reinstalled into the gutters, but they were thrown to the ground during the roofing process, walked on and trashed. These were to be replaced by New Era and the $1000 due payable then.
This past week, August 27, one month and 10 days since the roofing took place, the supervisor showed up with gutter guards and wanted the $1000. Upon speaking with the office manager/co-owner, who ranted and was most rude to a customer who was trying to speak to her, agreed to a check for $900 paid in full since we had contracted with another gutter company who would be supplying new gutter guards (cost of $100 for these).
We would never recommend this company and after calling our insurance adjuster with this information, stated he wasn't sure we should have used them anyway from past complaints. American Family in our area will not be recommending this company.
explained by the quick responding estimator that came out. The gentlemen
named Cody, With New Era, Met with my insurance adjuster and went over
the storm damage with him. My insurance company bought my roof. Cody
Returned within a day or two after meeting with the adjuster to go over
all my options and give his opinions. He brought color samples along
with him and went so far as to lay them on the roof for me to look at to
help with my decision. Once all the decisions had been made, we set a
date to perform the work. Cody called the evening before to confirm that
his crew would be there first thing the following morning. They showed
up at 8:00 Am the scheduled day. The took off my existing damaged
shingles on both my house and shed and took of the damaged metal roof on
my patio awning. they replaced with new Shingles and new metal. They
start to finish completed the work to be done on my roof in one day. The
following day they returned with their gutter crew to replace all my
gutters. They job went very smoothly and efficiently. Everything looks
Flawless and I would highly recommend, and already have to all my
friends and neighbors. New Era Roofing is a Great company to work with.
Cody stopped through Periodically to check on his guys and make sure I
had no Questions or Concerns. If I ever Need a new roof, I wouldn't
hesitate to use them again.
