They were very prompt and professional. The guy who installed the openers was very knowledgeable and was helpful when answering questions and showing me how to use the new hardware.

Great. With even with such a small purchase, the service was excellent. Free State personally dropped off the spring at my office the day after ordering. I would not hesitate to call them for more significant work.

They did a good job of matching the panels w/ the existing ones, and the installation and alignment seems outstanding. But I had to take two days off of work, and they didn't show up or even call either day. When I tried calling them, I had trouble getting through their phone system. The trouble was that when they got the panels in, they weren't insulated, so they had to order the insulation and delay installation. They finally sent someone out on a Sunday morning to finish the job, but I wish the communication had been better, or if there had been a discount for the trouble. It was still cheaper than new double and single garage doors.

Today we had the spring replaced on our garage door. The young man representing Free State was efficient, polite, respectful and knowledgeable.

I called Free State Doors late am on Friday the 26th. They had someone at my home to assess the problem within 90 minutes. It was determined that we needed a new opener and scheduled the install for Monday. Not too much time had passed when they called back saying there had been a cancellation and that they could install the opener that afternoon. We had a new garage door opener, key pad, and two remotes by 4pm. Everyone we spoke with at Free State Doors was courteous, prompt, and professional.

Amazing service, very personal and responsive. Always good, this time over the top in being able to find remotes, etc. for our older system - saved money, time and grief!

They were excellent. They had just two employees come at a time. It was about a day and a half job, they had to remove the old one then install the new one. They will go above and beyond. They noticed my backyard gate was sticking they fixed it. They balanced the door so it could be opened manually so the electrician could come in and do his part.

They didn't charge me for the Saturday morning trip where they just showed me how to open the door.  When they came on Monday morning, they were quick and professional, and showed me how/where to oil the hinges to keep the door opening smoothly.

They set up a generic time to come and look at the problem and called when they were on their way.  Said to repair our ailing garage door opener it would be around $150 or so and couldn't guarantee the work.  They said our opener gear was "burnt out."  It had started smoking on me when I was messing with it after the chain stopped moving when I pressed the button to raise/lower the door.  I elected to replace the opener for $325, especially because this door had no auto sensors near the bottom for objects, etc.  With a kid on the way and pets I wanted one on both doors.  They had a Liftmaster opener with them in the truck as they figured this was the likely outcome when I described the problem on the phone.  Not really any pushy sell on the new opener.
They are quick and efficient and were courteous.  Took maybe an hour and a half to replace the opener.  I wish the keypad was included even if it wasn't "standard," as I found some cheaper ones online than the $45, but that's alright.
I would definitely use them again and recommend.  Thanks for your service.

Service provider came over promptly to look at the problem and said he would check his stock of springs and call us back. We waited a day and when we didn't get a response, we called him. He said he tried to call us, but we didn't have a message.
He came over very promptly and fixed the door. When looking at the invoice, we realized that our contact number was wrong. So the provider did try to call us, but had the wrong number. In the end, it wasn't that big of a deal--he provided the services at what we considered a good price.
We would use this company again.

We got an estimate in late October, decided on options, and about two weeks later ordered the doors. In about three weeks, they called the day they were ready to hang the doors. The guys were done a little over two hours after arriving. They did great work, were respectful and gave us advice about how to maintain the doors. They did say they would follow up in a week, but haven't.

Six-month follow-up:
A month after the door was installed, it had trouble opening...just like our previous door. So they didn't fix the problem, even though we have a beautiful new door. I tried to explain to them that we still had a problem, but they didn't seem to understand, and kept saying "the door and the opener are two different systems." I realize that, but when I call for help in getting my garage door open, I need help with the system, not just components.

Anyway, we asked for someone to come over and diagnose the actual problem, which turned out to be one of the sensors. They came over unannounced, replaced them, and never told us. A few weeks later we got a bill for $160. When I called to address this ninja-fix, they didn't understand why I was annoyed with the situation. Eventually, I was given a partial refund.

Now that Spring is here, we painted the doors and replaced the trim...except one piece of trim was missing - the large strip above the double-size door. I dropped by to see if I could pick it up, and they didn't have it, but said they would get one to me later that week. The week came and went, and nothing happened. So I went by again, they took my information again, and said they would be by with it in a couple of days. Nothing, again.

My wife called in, and they seemed to have no recollection of my request. So she tried to set up another drop-off. They said that they would call her the next day (yesterday) to schedule the drop-off. No call; still waiting, but you get the idea.

UPDATE: They came by about a week later after another call. Did a lot of work for free, and did a decent job.

Needless to say, they do great with hardware, but their communication and customer service need a ton of work.

Response from Free State Doors Inc
"Mr (member name removed) called for a service call about a problem with door , we were there with in 2 hours and resolved problem after trying to tell him how to fix it himself over the phone , Mr (member name removed) had bumped his safety photo beams some how and knocked them out of line , our normal service call is $87.00 . We were there a very short time , but cheaper then electrician ($125.) Freestate Doors Cost just to go out to a job cost us between $50.00 and $60.00 dollars.( Trucks, tools, Insurance, overhead, payroll and taxes) I am sorry about his dissatisfaction ,but happy we were able to fix his door. Some people just can't be satisfied. If Mr (member name removed) would of contacted us, we would of been happy to adjust his bill to his satisfaction, but some people have trouble complaining face to face. But please see our other reviews, you will notice that we go up and beyond customer satisfaction. Scott Weatherwax President Freestate Doors Inc"
