I decided to buy a gift for my Dad's 60th birthday - a custom stereo system for his wood shop, bar and patio area where he hosts a lot of family get-togethers. I live in another city and Del's are the only ones in my father's area that provide custom stereo installations. Things were fine at first. "Jon" provided an estimate for a new stereo head unit (~$300) and a volume control system (~$400) which were perfect for this application. He agreed to provide an estimate for the installation costs by going onsite to view the building. The labor estimate was "1 day" which came to about $350. Then when they actually installed the wiring it took twice that long and they did nothing to alleviate the additional costs. A job that should have cost $1,100 ended up at over $1,900. I will never do business with these people again, and you shouldn't either. UPDATE 8/25/2010: Tim, one of the owners, has agreed to refund 4 hours of the labor cost. The job still ended up costing far more than estimated, and I am not changing my recommendation that they be avoided, but at least they tried to make up some of the difference.
