We had told the owner of the company that the tile pattern would include a raised accent, pencil and rail on both sides of the glass panel that was to separate the bathtub from the shower. When the owner of the company came to measure for the shower doors after the tile was in place, both the tile contractor and I were present. He did not ask any questions of either of us as far as placement of the track for the glass panel. The next day he called to tell me that he could not place the track for the glass panel where the tile contractor had planned and was marked out. This meant that the gap that the tile contractor had left for the track could not be used. The owner's son came to install the shower doors and he then had to cut into the accent tile pieces, while the accent pieces on the bathtub side stopped 11/16" short of the glass. We were having carpet replaced throughout the house and at the shower door owners' suggestion, installed the bathroom carpet the day before the shower door install. As I was re-installing shelving in the adjoining closet the owners' son was handeling the glass panel that separates the tub from the shower. Somehow it broke into a million pieces. Pieces and shards hit me along my legs and arms. I was not hurt, other than the installer and I got a number of shards in our fingers and was bleeding as we tried to clean up the glass. I knew we would not be able to get all the tiny shards out of the carpet and after some phone calls determined that the carpet would have to be replaced. The owners' son doing the installation told me that his wife worked for an insurance agency and that if I wanted to, I could file a claim on MY homeowners insurance! I really didn't appreciate this suggestion. I then called the company owner who agreed to re-ordered the glass panel and to contact his insurance agent. A claim was filed with his insurance and the carpet was replaced. Meanwhile when the new shower glass did come in, it did not have the factory glass treatment that we had ordered, so the glass had to be re-ordered again. The shower doors were eventually re-installed. All throughout this time there was not an apology by the company owner or his son untill the very end. The son did apologize when he came to re-install the doors and the company owner did when he came to get the month old carpet that was replaced.
