When my husband and I sold our Lake Lot and purchased a home in the country, I did not realize how much we would miss our fire pit and the lovely evenings by the fire just enjoying nature.  We recently contacted Construction Specialties about building a fire pit in our yard and Mike not only worked with us on price, but he also helped with the design and selection of colors and
stones.  We had our fire pit in place for our 4th of July festivities and it was a HUGE success.  I had no way of knowing that my husband would be so excited about a fire pit.   It has lured us out of our house, away from the television and back outside to
enjoy the peaceful evenings, tranquility of nature and good company of neighbors and friends.  Thanks Mike for all the future wonderful evenings sitting outside enjoying a sip of wine visiting with my husband under the glow of the moon and stars, in lieu of
nights spent sitting in the living room with the glare and noise of the television!!!  Your company was very responsive and got the job done ? even in the midst of all the rain and storms.  Thank you for everything.  I highly recommend Construction Specialties

Home ownership can be frustrating. What do you do when you find yourself with a problem that is beyond your skill level or requires a larger time commitment than you are able to make? You've got to try to find someone that you can trust to help you! I was lucky to find Construction Specialties, so I thought I'd take a moment and write a review of my experience.
The background to my story is that my house had some major plumbing issues. Over the past six years I've had leaks in all the plumbing lines below the slab. The problem was probably due to poor workmanship by the builder, but that is neither here-nor-there. One by one, I've had to abandon all lines under my slab and use PEX cables attached to walls to carry water. In December, the main line between the city supply and master shut-off had to be replaced. The plumber did a fine job, but plumbers plumb and will not do minor (or not so minor) renovations. I was left with an eyesore that reduced the value of my property and a need to repair the HVAC return air in the utility closet in garage.
To address this issue I contacted Construction Specialties, who were recommended to me by a friend. The owner and operator, Mike Warner, has many years experience is renovation and general contracting. He examined my situation and made several recommendations with different price options for different budgets. One of the options was especially innovative and based on something Mike had done in his own house. He was able to send some pictures so I'd have a good idea what it would look
like in the end. The idea was to attach crown molding to the wall to hide the PEX. Then he installed rope lighting to add a cool ambiance to the bedroom. There are some pictures on his facebook page if you want to see it. What I like about it is that the lighting feature turns a negative about my house into a positive. It looks like we intended to do it!
Construction Specialties sent a clear and easy to follow quote the day after he inspected the site. The price seemed very reasonable so I pulled the trigger. Construction Specialties is an up-and-coming company and very busy, but they made me feel like a priority. They made reasonable accommodations, were willing to work with my schedule and were very respectful of my space. They were essentially done in 1.5 days (they came back to touch up the paint the following day.)
I'm not the handiest person. I'm no Bob Villa, that is for sure. I've had several jobs with different plumbers, painters and contractors over the years.  My experience with Construction Specialties is by far the best. Every night before I go to bed I think "wow that looks good!" I would highly recommend Mike Warner and Construction Specialties for any general contracting or remodeling jobs and will use them again in the future.

Finished on time and it looked better than I imagined it would. He also took the time to fix additional wood rot at no cost. He did all the little things and wen above and beyond.

This is a GREAT company.  Very friendly, knowledgeable and courteous.  Had everything completed in record time.  Made sure to protect hot tub and other items from paint, even though it was very windy!  I would highly recommend Construction Specialties for any project.  I plan to use them in for future projects including adding steps off our front porch, addition of a fire pit and help in selecting and installing a pathway to an existing patio and the fire pit.  Thanks Mike.  You really took care of us!!!!!

This company is amazing!  I think there are workers for EVERY specialty - and they are all good!!!  My first experience was having them lay ceramic tile.  That might sound like a straightforward job - but mine wasn't.  My home was built in the 40s and there was a difference of approximately 2 inches from the kitchen (included in the original home) and the dining room (an addition).  The worker built up the floor from the kitchen through the dining room so the tile would be level and would not crack or break due to a difference in elevation.  I had removed the old lino, so the worker was able to come in and lay the board and the tile IN ONE DAY!!  He installed one day and returned to do the grouting the next.  The floor looks amazing - the work was done even faster than they told me it would be - and the price was much less than the other three bids I had gotten.  A few weeks after the kitchen and dining room were done, I had them come back and tile my bathroom.  Different worker - SAME RESULT!!  So I decided to have them upgrade my deck and stain it.  Then I had them paint my dining room - two colors with a chair rail between (of a third color).  Again - on time and  professionally done.  FOR A GREAT PRICE!!!  The last job they did for me was last week.  It was windy, and I had failed to close my storm door properly.  The wind literally pulled the door from the wood molding.  I called and the owner had someone at my house in a matter of hours - the same day I called.  Every one of the workers I had contact with had years of experience in his trade.  He knew the products that needed to be used for each job and was able to advise me on what would work best for my situation.
