All was handled appropriately. ?I was surprised by the cost for the additional keys, but I suppose that is part of me loosing mine. ?I would work with them again.

We got off to a rocky start.  The technician that was assigned to our project couldn't make it in to work.  After waiting an hour or so I called and the gentleman working at the shop said he would be out as soon as someone else made it in to work.  He had six exterior doors to re-key and repair.  He did as much as he could at the house but the original 1936 hardware needed some repair and he took it back to the shop.  He returned two hours later with everything clean, polished, and working as well as the day they were originally installed.  I learned a lot of history about our knobs and locks and how they worked and how to take care of them.  We are already planning to use them again for the next project.

We had used them when we were in a different area. We were always happy with them so we were familiar with them. They were prompt and courteous. They came on a Saturday with no extra charge. He seemed to be very knowledgeable.

Our doorknob/lock froze in the closed position on our kitchen to garage door and we could not open the door. We called Smallwood Locksmiths on a Saturday and left a message with the answering service. Within a half hour they returned our call and was able to come out within a couple of hours. They removed the lock and replaced it with a new one. The repairman was friendly and efficient. There was no up-charge for a weekend call. We were completely satisfied and actually surprised that they came out so fast on a Saturday.

I was satisfied with the price.  They gave good expert advice and recommendations on what I needed.  I would use them again in the future.

I lugged a lateral file cabinet to the locksmith. The locksmith climbed into the car to read a number on the lock and looked it up to make a key. So far so good. Another locksmith brought the key to the file in the car and fit it into the lock. It turned 45 degrees but did not open because the file was on its back and the locking gizmo could not work properly at that angle. The locksmith assured me it would open once the file was upended properly. Inside, the original locksmith asked if the lock had turned 90 degrees. The second locksmith said it turned 45 degrees and would complete the turn when upended. At home I put the file into position and the key turned 45 degrees and would not open. I called and the locksmith said, "My job is to make the key--not to see if it works. I wasn't about to lug that file out of the car and upend it. That's not my job. I did what I'm supposed to." He was very rude and dismissive. Smallwood Locksmiths does not stand by their work.
