Every thing went smoothly from our initial call for an estimate to the very end. .Matthew communicated any unexpected changes as quickly as he became aware of them. He provided excellent written and verbal communication from our initial call to the final letter with guarantee after his final inspection.
He is busy, so it is best to allow for time between his estimate and the start date. Once he sets a start date, he arrives and goes to work. Matthew does all of the framing and tiling work. He has a young man that assists him with moving in materials, cleaning up, mixing cement, and cutting the tile. This assistance allows Matthew to keep moving ahead more efficiently on the project. Both were very professional workers and delightful people to have in our home.
The estimate - Matthew took time to understand what we wanted done, offered ideas, suggested details that improved the design and kept the cost in check. We discussed type of tile as well as vendors to use. This time was valuable to us - it helped us understand the entire process and helped us more clearly communicate our desired outcome.
The work - Matthew and his assistant did the demo from start to a clean finish in about 3 hours. The next morning prepping the area got underway; then tiling started. Matthew included plumbing fees in his estimate. Having him arrange for that plumber allowed the scheduling to be done at the time Matthew was ready for them. (One can arrange to use one's favorite plumber if preferred.) Because Matthew spent a good amount of time with us during the estimate phase, and we clarified several things via email once we had the contract, we had very few changes during the installation process.
At the end of each day's work, the area was cleaned up. Matthew would have ask us to come see the progress and we'd cover any questions either of us had about the next day's work. He would let us know who would be coming the next day and what time they would arrive. Just a reminder, with tiling projects there are necessary lapse in the work schedule to allow grout to dry.so there won't be 'full' days of work. However there was some work done each day. Our work was done in late January - snow, cold, icy. With the going in and out, there was great care taken to keep our doors closed and to protect our carpet.
For our project, Matthew scheduled a week (5-6 days). It was finished on time. He came by about a week later to do his final inspection and then sent us his final letter that encouraged us to take advantage of the 1 year guarantee by having him come by to check for any needed corrections at that time.
.
Though he is booked weeks in advance, he started our job on the date promised in the contract and was able to complete the job in the days he'd originally forecast. He and his assistant, Joe, did a TERRIFIC job!! We purchased the tile ourselves (from Lowe's) and had removed the sink and commode from the bathroom. Matthew/Joe did everything else as relates to the tile. The two of them did a fabulous job. Worked quickly, yet with expert precision - the cuts were right on and our bathroom is absolutely gorgeous. We are VERY, VERY PLEASED with the end result, and would call Matthew again for future tile work and/or highly recommend Matthew Borlase (Premier TIle) without hesitation.
