For some reason this summer (FIFTEEN years later!) one end of the system came loose from the roof line in the back. We contacted LeafGuard Great Plains to see what was required to have it re-attached. Even though they were unable to locate us in their system and our particular issue wasn't a covered warranty item they offered to come out and investigate the problem. Mike came out within a week while we were at work and re-attached the system at no cost. If we ever move we will definitely make the investment to have LeafGuard gutters installed again.
Thank you Billy and Mike!!
Because of cold, windy weather, installation of the new gutter system was delayed through November and December. At first, communication with the company was not great. But approximately December 29, the installers made sure that we received telephone calls notifying us of their schedule and any delays that occurred.
On January 16, we had a full contingent of installers. They arrived at our home on time and completed the work as scheduled. Except for a single piece that was missing, the installers completed the work on January 16, cleaned up all debris, explained about the missing piece and told us that an installer would arrive on January 17 to complete the work. Communications with the installer arriving January 17 was very good. He arrived, completed the work, cleaned up the debris and left before noon.
The installers were efficient and friendly. They worked diligently all day long to complete the project.
We decided to look into gutter systems because we have large trees around the house. It's a mess every spring with all the maple and elm seeds and in the fall with all the leaves. We are older people and I did not want my husband getting up on the ladder to clean the second story gutters. I read a lot of reviews on Angie's list, including those for Leaf Guard. We made an appointment for an estimate and the sales rep, Tony, came over on Saturday, 9-13. He was actually early for the appointment which was fine with us. He took some measurements and photos and drew up diagram of the guttering that would be replaced. He also explained how the product works as opposed to other types of guards, helmets, screens, etc. and showed us samples. We liked the product since we had already used a couple of other types of gutter guards that did not work well and were installed by being shoved up under the roofing. LeafGuard does not affix to the roof in any way so will not need to be removed when we get a new roof - probably in the next 1 -2 years. The install was scheduled for 9-26 and we got a call the day before that the crew would be here between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. They arrived at 8:07 and were done and everything cleaned up and taken away be 9:15 AM. Our house is not huge and, luckily, there was no rot or anything so they didn't have to replace any wood. They also used our existing downspouts which are larger than most and would work with the LeafGuard system. That also helped to keep the price down. We were very impressed with how the crew went to work to remove the old gutters, re-measure and test for any problems with the wood, etc.
The guttering is actually made on-site inside a big truck and is cut in one piece for each run. The workers really knew what they were doing and worked efficiently and quickly. Overall, we are very happy at this point but, the leaves haven't fallen yet and it hasn't rain so, hopefully, we will have no surprises.
There are some things about the installation of our gutter system that I would like to have changed or added, but since it wasn't written into the original contract, I doubt LeafGuard will correct, such as, there is a section above the garage that creates a type of valley causing water to overshoot the gutter and fall onto the driveway below. If LeafGuard could install a vented cover above the center portion of the garage, that might just correct that issue, but that would probably be at an additional cost, I'm sure. Ohhhh, and a few months after the installation was complete, we got a really bad ice storm move through leaving about an inch of ice on the roof. Well, as the ice began to melt, We DID get the icicles referred to by other reviewers, however, they were only small icicles that actually gave the house more of a Christmas feel to it. We also noticed that other neighbors with various other vented covers...ALSO had the same problem with icicles! Our icicles looked prettier and more uniform, though.
